The next-generation Toyota Fortuner has been spotted in Thailand yet again, according to the new spy photos shared by kurdistan_automotive_blog_. Based on the photos, the next-gen Toyota Fortuner is reportedly undergoing testing on the streets of Thailand.
The spy photos suggest that the new Toyota Fortuner will come with a revamped front end, featuring a more boxy and less sharp fascia compared to the current model. The camouflaged photo also suggests that the next-gen Fortuner will come with a less pointed nose. The headlights look like they could come with a square-ish design, which is different from the swept-back design seen on the current model.
Other details we can derive from the camouflaged prototype is the front grille, which could most likely come with a mesh pattern along with a bold V-shaped accent. The front bumper, on the other hand, could still come with the familiar C-shaped trim, but there’s also a good chance that Toyota inserted a distinctive design detail on the covered portions of the front bumper.
Turning to the side, it seems that the next-gen Fortuner could come with a chiseled fender, which looks more straightforward than the muscular flares seen on the current model. The new Fortuner will still come with a stepboard, which is a standard feature among midsize SUVs. The rear quarter window is heavily covered, but from what we can see, it seems that it shares a bit of similarity with the Fortuner Gen 1’s rear quarter windows. However, previous spy shots of the next-gen Fortuner could tell otherwise.

The rear could most probably come with a rear lip spoiler and a sharkfin antenna. But the spy photo suggests that the next-gen Fortuner will come with a new taillight design, which appears to be slimmer than the current design. It also appears that the tailgate could be integrated with more straightforward yet more assertive trims.
However, do note that there are no official details yet for the next-generation Fortuner. Toyota has yet to release an announcement about its midsize SUV model. But the current-generation Fortuner has been in the market for nearly 10 years and has received only subtle design updates. As such, it seems that Toyota is preparing for the launch of the next-generation Fortuner.
Autocar’s Take
The next-generation Toyota Fortuner would come with a revamped design, which is expected since it has not received a major design overhaul for quite some time. Moreover, the Fortuner’s new look is on the horizon since its platform sibling, the Hilux, has already received an all-new look and is already available in the Philippines. That said, it’s only a matter of time before Toyota makes an official announcement that it will be introducing the all-new Fortuner, a popular midsize SUV, especially in the Philippine market.
