Philippine auto sales went up by 20.6 percent in September 2026, as per the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association, Inc. (TMA). The combined sales report from CAMPI and TMA posted 35,722 units sold in September, which shows better performance than August’s 29,611 units sold.

CAMPI said that auto sales in September went up as the industry rebounded from weather-related disruptions, which was regarded as one of the factors that contributed to the August sales slump.

Meanwhile, total car sales in the Philippines last September, including the estimates from non-CAMPI car brand members, totaled 40,240 units, which is 17 percent higher than August that registered 34,390 units sold.

CAMPI President Jose Maria Atienza shared that breaching the 40,000-unit monthly sales mark reflects positive market movement. The local auto industry’s September performance signals a return to the recovery path projected before weather-related disruptions briefly affected market activity in August.

“Sales of ICE [internal combustion engine] vehicles posted a strong 19% rebound in September, while xEV [new energy vehicles] sales also recorded a solid 14% increase. This continued growth across both segments reflects healthy consumer demand and reinforces our confidence in the market. Based on annual sales trends heading into the final months of the year, we believe the industry is well-positioned to sustain its momentum and deliver a strong overall performance in 2026,” Atienza said.

Among CAMPI-TMA member brands, Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP) still holds the number one position when it comes to sales. In September, TMP captured 50.8 percent of the market, as it posted 18,517 units sold. Toyota is followed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) with 3,962 units, Suzuki Philippines Inc. (SPI) with 1,466 units, Ford Group Philippines, Inc. (FGP) with 1,187 units, and Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) with 1,136 units.

In the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) category, VinFast maintains its foothold in the top spot with 865 units sold. It is followed by Omoda & Jaecoo with 599 units sold, while Tesla followed closely with 588 units sold in September 2026.

Meanwhile, Jetour Auto Philippines posted the most unit sales under the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) category with 548 units sold. The runner-up is MG Philippines, as it ended September 2026 with 416 units sold.

In the Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) category, Toyota is on top with 2,737 units sold in September 2026. Toyota’s closest rival is Ford Philippines, with 370 units sold.

Autocar’s Take

The Philippine auto industry recorded better sales numbers in September compared to August. Among the car brands in the local market, Toyota maintains its foothold in the Philippines as it is still the top-selling car brand, as seen in the September numbers. The top three CAMPI brand members remain consistent, with Toyota sitting on top followed by Mitsubishi and Suzuki. However, it is interesting to know the sales numbers from non-CAMPI brand members to have a better and more comprehensive benchmark as to which car brands are performing well and which car brands are playing catch-up.
