Denza has officially pulled the wraps off the all-electric Z, a flagship supercar that showcases the premium brand’s most advanced performance and charging technologies to date. Unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom, the new model combines hypercar-rivalling performance with ultra-fast charging and track-focused engineering.
The Denza Z represents the latest flagship offering from the premium technology-oriented brand under the BYD Group. During the launch, BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li introduced the car alongside 2009 Formula One World Champion Jenson Button, confirming that the Z will be offered in Coupe, Spider and Racing variants, with a Special Edition set to target Nürburgring Nordschleife lap records later this year.
At the heart of the Z is Denza’s new e3 Sports Car Platform, which features a triple-motor all-wheel-drive system consisting of one front motor and two independently controlled rear motors. The setup produces a combined 1,604 hp and 1,240 Nm of torque, enabling the supercar to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 2.25 seconds. The Racing version, when equipped with optional semi-slick tires, lowers that figure to just 1.96 seconds and raises the top speed to 350 km/h.

Power comes from BYD’s second-generation 76-kWh Blade Battery, which is integrated into the vehicle’s structure using Cell-to-Body technology. The company claims the battery delivers a WLTP driving range of up to 410 km in the Coupe while supporting its new Flash Charging system, capable of replenishing the battery from 10 to 70 percent in five minutes and from 10 to 97 percent in nine minutes under compatible charging conditions.
The Z also introduces several technologies developed specifically for high-performance driving. These include the DiSus-M magnetorheological suspension system, carbon-ceramic brakes, Vehicle Motion Control, and a triple-motor torque management system designed to optimize grip, stability, and handling on both road and track.
Despite its performance credentials, Denza says the Z has been designed for everyday usability. All versions feature a four-seat cabin with premium materials, powered front seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions, a 12.8-inch infotainment display, an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster, Devialet audio, Google Built-in, wireless smartphone charging, and advanced driver-assistance systems.
Following its global debut at Goodwood, Denza plans to begin accepting orders for the Coupe, Spider and Racing models in selected markets this summer, with first customer deliveries expected before the end of the year. The Nürburgring-focused Special Edition, meanwhile, will continue development ahead of its planned record attempts in the coming months.

Autocar’s Take
Electric supercars are no longer just about outrageous acceleration figures, and the Denza Z shows why. While its claimed 1,604 hp output and sub-two-second sprint grab the headlines, what could prove more significant is BYD’s push toward ultra-fast charging and advanced vehicle control technologies. If the company’s Flash Charging system performs as advertised in real-world conditions, it could address one of the biggest concerns surrounding high-performance EVs. The Denza Z may still be a niche halo model, but it demonstrates how rapidly Chinese automakers are advancing in both engineering and performance.
