BYD Cars Philippines has turned over eight Dolphin electric vehicle (EV) patrol cars to the City Government of Muntinlupa. The car brand shared that this partnership is seen to further strengthening the city’s local police operations while aligning with Mayor Ruffy Biazon’s green technology program for Muntinlupa.
BYD Cars PH noted that all eight Dolphin EV Patrol Cars have been assigned to the Muntinlupa Police Station, where they will be used for Philippine National Police (PNP) operations in the city. Among the duties of the Dolphin EV Patrol Cars will be supporting daily law enforcement activities and road patrols.
The electric patrol cars are also expected to deliver significant operational savings compared to traditional internal combustion engine patrol cars, with lower maintenance requirements and zero fuel costs, according to BYD Cars PH.
“The acquisition of the BYD Dolphins is a part of the long-term investment in clean energy that Muntinlupa has already committed to. With electric patrol cars, our police force can stay on the road longer without worry and gives them a more reliable way to serve our community,” said Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon.

BYD Cars PH Managing Director Bob Palanca shared that Muntinlupa City’s decision to electrify its police fleet shows its forward-thinking leadership.
“Muntinlupa’s decision to electrify its police fleet reflects the kind of forward-thinking leadership we hope to see in more local governments. At BYD Cars Philippines, we want to be a genuine partner to LGUs as they move toward cleaner, more cost-efficient public service fleets, and this is a strong example of what that partnership looks like in practice,” Palanca said.
The Muntinlupa vehicle turnover adds to a growing list of fleet partnerships between BYD Cars PH and government agencies. Last year, BYD Cars PH turned over 41 Dolphin EVs to Valenzuela City. Of the 41 units delivered, 35 will be deployed for police patrols, five for city government departments, and one as a dedicated emergency response vehicle.

Autocar’s Take
BYD Cars PH’s turnover of eight Dolphin EV Patrol Cars to the City Government of Muntinlupa reflects the car brand’s commitment to offering EVs that can be utilized for public services. This is not the first time that BYD Cars PH has partnered with a city government, as it has also turned over a total of 41 units of the Dolphin EV to Valenzuela City last year. As such, you can see that BYD is determined to let local governments see the value and the benefits of having electrified police cars.
