MG Motor Philippines has strengthened its push into the local electrified vehicle market with the unveiling of the new MG RX9 PHEV. It is the brand’s newest flagship seven-seater plug-in hybrid SUV, which headlines its participation at the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) 2026 (PIMS).
Positioned as MG’s most premium electrified SUV in the country, the RX9 PHEV combines executive-level comfort with long-range hybrid efficiency. It features a 1.5-liter turbocharged hybrid-dedicated engine paired with an electric motor and a 24.7-kWh battery, producing a combined 299 hp. The vehicle offers up to 115 km of pure electric driving range and a total driving range exceeding 1,100 km.
The new flagship also comes loaded with upscale features, including dual 12.3-inch displays, a premium 12-speaker audio system, ventilated front seats with massage function, 12-way power seat adjustment with memory settings, tri-zone climate control, and MG Pilot advanced driver assistance systems. The RX9 PHEV’s debut banners MG’s “The Next Wave Continues” campaign, which highlights the brand’s growing portfolio of new energy vehicles in the Philippines.
Joining the flagship SUV is the new MG HS PHEV, a plug-in hybrid crossover that has earned recognition in the United Kingdom as a leading hybrid model. Powered by a 21.6-kWh battery and a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, it delivers 272 hp, an electric-only range of up to 100 km, and a total range exceeding 1,000 km.
MG also introduced the MG4 EV Urban, a compact electric hatchback designed for city driving. Equipped with a 43.2-kWh battery and a 110-kW electric motor, the model offers a driving range of up to 403 km and supports fast charging from 20% to 80% in just 35 minutes.
Aside from the car launches, MG reported strong demand for its G50 PHEV MPV, which has already surpassed 1,000 reservations nationwide. The company has begun releasing the first customer units, underscoring growing Filipino interest in practical electrified mobility solutions.
