Toyota has revealed the 2026 GRMN Corolla that is designed and engineered to deliver track-focused performance. Toyota said that the GRMN Corolla is developed through testing at the Nürburgring in Germany and refined in Japan’s Super Taikyu endurance racing series.

The standard Toyota GR Corolla, which is available in the Philippines, is already a highly capable hatchback, but the Japanese automaker wanted to further increase the performance capability of the vehicle as it introduced the GRMN Corolla. To do achieve this goal, Toyota put a significant focus on reducing the GRMN Corolla’s overall weight as well as implementing aerodynamic upgrades.

Arguably, the most notable update lies under the GRMN Corolla’s hood. Toyota optimized the 1.6-liter turbocharged engine to produce more torque than the GR Corolla. As such, the GRMN Corolla delivers 300 horsepower and 410 Nm of torque compared to the GR Corolla’s 296 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque.

Toyota shared that its engineers used the data from the Super Taikyu racing series to achieve more power, focusing on increasing torque in the 4,000 to 4,600 rpm mid-speed range, which is crucial for accelerating out of corners.

Exterior-wise, the GRMN Corolla is equipped with aerodynamic performance parts for enhanced driving performance. Its hood duct, fender ducts, front side spoilers, and rear wing incorporate know-how gained from racing, tested on the hydrogen engine-powered GR Corolla.

Toyota added that the GRMN Corolla’s suspension features exclusive front and rear monotube shock absorbers with rebound springs for improved inner-wheel traction during cornering and for enhanced high-speed cornering performance. To further make the car’s handling more confident, the GRMN Corolla also comes with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

Now onto the weight savings. Toyota decided to completely remove the rear seats and place a carbon-fiber hood and front fenders, which makes the GRMN Corolla 30 kilograms lighter than the standard GR Corolla. Inside, it has a two-seater cabin, since the rear seats are removed for weight reduction.

It also has semi-bucket sport seats, red interior accents, and a special dash pad bearing the signature of Toyota Master Driver Akio “Morizo” Toyoda. Moreover, the door trim and the shift knob are accented with Alumite red, and a GRMN-exclusive serial number plate is fitted.

The 2026 GRMN Corolla will be built at Toyota Motor Corporation’s Motomachi plant in Japan, primarily for North America, Japan and Australia. More information on the full model specifications and Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price will be provided later.
