The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift is the third installment in the Fast & Furious movie franchise. There, one particular car stood out proud – a 1992 Mazda RX-7 FD in an aggressively styled body kit from Japanese automotive aftermarket specialist, Veilside. Han Lee (played by Korean actor Sung-Ho Kang) pilots the Veilside RX-7, making it one of the most recognizable RX-7 FD ever.
According to Bonhams, around 250 examples of the Veilside Mazda RX-7 were used in the making of Tokyo Drift. Of these, 25 were cut up, and over 80 have been totaled. Fortunately, 2 units survived the ordeal, and one of them went up for auction at the Bonhams’ Goodwood Auction during the recently concluded Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The big news is that the car met the hammer at $1.2 million, or around Php 68.57 million at the current exchange rates. Of note, this is the most expensive Mazda RX-7 ever sold.
The movie car was commissioned by Universal Studios, only used for static and close-up scenes. First imported into the UK in 2008 from New Era Imports, the car has been in the hands of a single private owner who meticulously stored and only drove it in dry conditions. In April 2025, Hayward Rotaries inspected the unit to ensure its condition before auctioning.

The Veilside Mazda RX-7 flaunts a Fortune wide-body kit, one of Veilside’s most distinctive designs. As a result, the car added over 200mm of width vs. the original FD RX-7. Finished in pearlescent orange with gloss black accents, the Veilside Mazda RX-7 remains in exceptional condition.
It still carries various production markings, including “#71 HANS” labels, and traces of camera mount fixtures used on set. Inside are Veilside racing bucket seats, carbon fiber and aluminum trim, an Alpine sound system with twin amplifiers, and a disconnected NOS bottle.

It runs with a 280 hp twin-rotor turbocharged engine rebuilt by rotary specialist RE-Amemiya. It rides on 19-inch Andrew Premier Racing Evolution wheels with Pirelli P Zero Nero tires. Other mods include a Blitz Nur-Spec exhaust, upgraded brakes, a new clutch, and coil-over suspension. The car weighs just over 1,050 kg and shows a total mileage of approximately 66,785 miles (107,480.039 km).
