Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team is excited to announce that Adrian Newey, the legendary British designer, has committed his long-term future to the team. Beginning on March 1, 2025, Newey will step into a new role as Managing Technical Partner, operating from the team’s headquarters in Silverstone.
Newey’s appointment is yet another bold move in Aston Martin Aramco’s pursuit of Formula One glory. Widely regarded as the greatest technical mind in the sport’s history, Newey has been instrumental in securing 25 Formula One World titles for the teams he’s worked with.
Looking for a fresh challenge, Newey views Aston Martin Aramco as the perfect project to apply his vast expertise and creativity. A pivotal moment in his decision came after a private tour of the team’s newly unveiled AMR Technology Campus in June – a clear sign of the team’s ambitious future.
Newey will be at the forefront of exciting developments in the sport, including the introduction of new technical regulations in 2026, the integration of Honda power units, Aramco’s advancements in fuel technology, and the operation of Formula One’s newest wind tunnel.
Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, commented: “This is monumental news. Adrian is unparalleled in his field and remains at the peak of his powers. We’re thrilled to welcome him to Aston Martin Aramco Formula One®. His addition is the biggest development since Aston Martin’s return to the sport and further underscores our commitment to building a team capable of winning world championships.
From the moment Adrian became available, we knew we had to act. Our early conversations confirmed a mutual desire to collaborate on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Adrian is a true racer, one of the most competitive individuals I’ve ever met. He was immediately impressed by what we’ve built at Silverstone – the AMR Technology Campus, the talented team, and the cutting-edge wind tunnel. Adrian shares our hunger for success and is as committed as we are to writing a new chapter in Aston Martin Aramco’s Formula One journey.”
Adrian Newey added: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Aston Martin Aramco Formula One®. Lawrence’s passion and commitment to building a world-class team are inspiring. As the only majority team owner who is actively involved in the sport, his dedication is evident in everything from the AMR Technology Campus to the state-of-the-art wind tunnel at Silverstone.
With strong partners like Honda and Aramco, and all the right infrastructure in place, I am excited to contribute to making Aston Martin a championship-winning team. I’m looking forward to this new chapter and helping the team achieve its goals.”
