The local electric vehicle (EV) industry is rapidly growing, with many car brands pushing boundaries to champion the cause for more efficient and sustainable mobility options. One of these brands is the Vietnamese carmaker, VinFast, through its official local distributor, VinFast Auto Philippines Inc.

Recently, VinFast Philippines, together with its affiliates V-Green and Green GSM, has signed a memorandum of understanding with leading local bank BDO to further advance electric mobility in the country. The agreement establishes a partnership aimed at making EVs more accessible to Filipino consumers and businesses. It also supports the building of infrastructures, as well as creating financial systems needed for wider EV adoption.

In further detail, VinFast Philippines will collaborate with BDO to develop financing programs tailored to both individual and corporate buyers. The programs will make use of the latter’s services, including cash management, consumer banking, leasing, and insurance.

In support of the move is V-Green. The EV charging station developer has begun securing locations for its growing network. Notably, V-Green already has four EVs approved for rollout in SM malls, with further installations planned in Alfamart outlets, schools, and other sites within the BDO-SM ecosystem. V-Green says the partnership with BDO will help accelerate the development of reliable and convenient charging facilities.

Green GSM, an EV taxi service, has been in ties with BDO since its launch in June 2025. The integration supports driver onboarding and expansion of its services. According to Green GSM, the collaboration is key to scaling its operations while aligning with national goals to cut emissions and modernize transport.

As for BDO, the agreement highlights the bank’s role in supporting sustainable development. BDO says that the partnership enables the financial sector to play a direct role in the country’s transport shift.

The three companies are positioning their collaboration as an end-to-end ecosystem for electric mobility in the country. VinFast will provide the vehicles, while V-Green will develop the charging infrastructure. Green GSM, on the other hand, will operate electric taxi services. With financing from BDO and the backing of the SM Group’s extensive locations, the initiative is expected to expedite EV adoption while contributing to cleaner urban mobility.
