The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ compact off-roader is among the confirmed vehicles that Toyota Motor Philippines will be launching this year. Despite being among the new vehicles slated for the local market, Toyota PH has yet to announce the Land Cruiser FJ’s exact launch date.

However, a report from Thailand hints that the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ could debut around March 2026, according to the Thai website Autolife Thailand. The publication added that the Land Cruiser FJ will be manufactured at the Ban Pho factory in Thailand, which will be exported to global markets, including Japan.

The upcoming Toyota Land Cruiser FJ for the Thailand market is said to come with a gasoline engine only. This is the 2.7-liter 2TR-FE gasoline engine, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and a part-time 4WD system. Power output is rated at 161 horsepower and 246 Nm of torque.

As of this writing, a diesel engine option is not in the books, as per AutoLife Thailand’s report. This report coincides with the previous news we published, where Toyota is considering adding a 2.8-liter turbocharged diesel engine around 2029. The said diesel engine is already used in the Land Cruiser 250, Hilux, and HiAce. Another reason why the diesel engine option will not yet be offered is due to the more stringent global emission regulations.

In terms of pricing, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will reportedly be priced around 1.1 to 1.3 million Thai Bhat, which is around P2,044,000 to P2,416,000. Of note, these numbers are not yet official and are just estimates.

Looking at the converted currency figures, the Land Cruiser FJ is priced closely with the PH-spec Toyota Fortuner. To put things into perspective, the Fortuner 2.4 G AT is priced at P1,867,000, while the Fortuner 2.8 LTD 4×4 AT comes with a P2,559,000 price tag.

Speaking of price, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ’s estimated price tag could also challenge the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door’s pricing in the Philippines. The Jimny 5-Door GLX AT Two-Tone is priced at P1,708,000, which is only P336,000 lower than the estimated starting price of the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ, which is around P2,044,000.

Again, Toyota has yet to release the official pricing of the Land Cruiser FJ. The prices mentioned here are not yet final and are just estimates taken from a report published in Thailand.

Autocar’s Take

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ could arguably be one of the most popular vehicles in the Philippines once it is officially launched in the market. Its compact body, coupled with a rugged and aggressive styling, could entice many off-road enthusiasts or those individuals who love to go overlanding.

Reports state that it could debut in Thailand this March 2026, which tells us that the Philippine market would soon follow suit. To make things more interesting, the Land Cruiser FJ’s pricing could shake up the local market. It could get some sales from the Fortuner, while it can also sway Jimny 5-Door buyers into getting the Land Cruiser FJ instead, should the estimated pricing be made official.
