Nissan Philippines Welcomes Yasuhisa Masuda as New President

Nissan Philippines has announced the appointment of Yasuhisa Masuda as its new President, effective April 1, 2024. Masuda’s appointment comes alongside the appointment of Toshihiro Fujiki as President of Nissan ASEAN and Thailand, marking a pivotal moment for the automotive giant in the region.

The information was posted on Nissan Philippines’ local website.

Masuda, who brings a wealth of experience to his new role, will be based in Manila and will report directly to Toshihiro Fujiki. His predecessor, Juan Manuel Hoyos, leaves behind a legacy of success, having overseen significant growth and the launch of several key products during his tenure.

Under Hoyos’ leadership, Nissan Philippines experienced remarkable expansion, marked by the successful introduction of multiple products across various segments. Notable among these launches were the all-new Kicks e-POWER, Livina, GT-R, Nissan Z, and Almera with NissanConnect Services. These initiatives significantly expanded Nissan’s footprint in the country, propelling the company to achieve a remarkable 37% growth by the end of FY23, a feat surpassing industry standards.

Masuda’s career trajectory within Nissan underscores his suitability for the role. Having joined the company in 2011, he has held diverse leadership positions in Market Intelligence, Brand, and Media Strategy. His previous role as Chief Marketing Officer for Japan Product Marketing and Brand and Media Strategy equipped him with invaluable insights into consumer behavior and market dynamics. Additionally, his background in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Industry further enriches his understanding of consumer preferences.

Masuda’s appointment signals Nissan Philippines’ commitment to navigating the evolving landscape of consumer demands in the country. With his expertise in data analytics and consumer insights, Masuda is poised to steer Nissan towards sustained growth and innovation in the Philippine market.

Meanwhile, Juan Manuel Hoyos, the outgoing President of Nissan Philippines, is set to embark on a new chapter as President of Nissan Importers Business Unit (NIBU) in the Americas, based in Mexico. His contributions to Nissan Philippines have laid a strong foundation for future success in the region.

Masuda’s official inauguration will be subject to his qualification under Philippine Laws and subsequent confirmation and election by NPI’s Board of Directors. As he assumes his new role, expectations are high for Masuda to lead Nissan Philippines into a new era of prosperity and advancement in the automotive industry.
