Nissan Philippines has confirmed the arrival of the Navara Pro Plug-in Hybrid and Primera EV, bringing the automaker closer to the local launch of two electrified vehicles scheduled for November 6.
Announced on October 22, the arrival introduces a plug-in hybrid pickup and a fully electric executive sedan to Nissan’s Philippine lineup. Both vehicles made their Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) debut at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show in June.
The Navara Pro PHEV combines the pickup’s established utility and four-wheel-drive capability with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The new configuration gives Nissan another electrified option in a segment traditionally dominated by diesel-powered pickups, although the company has yet to release complete Philippine-market specifications.
For buyers who need a vehicle for work and everyday driving, the combination of pickup versatility and electrification could prove significant. However, details such as electric driving range, fuel economy, battery capacity, payload and towing capability will be important in determining how the model measures up against conventional pickups.
The Primera EV, meanwhile, marks the return of a familiar Nissan nameplate after an 18-year absence. This time, it takes the form of a fully electric executive sedan, featuring a battery-powered drivetrain and a contemporary design.

Its arrival gives Nissan another entry into the growing electric vehicle market, where buyers increasingly have alternatives to conventional gasoline-powered sedans. Pricing, battery specifications, driving range and charging performance remain key details to watch ahead of its Philippine launch.
“Innovation has always been part of Nissan’s story, shaping how we approach mobility across generations,” Nissan Philippines President Yoshinori Kanazawa said in the company’s announcement. He added that both models continue that tradition in the local market.
The two vehicles were also displayed at Nissan’s booth during the 14thPhilippine Electric Vehicle Summit, held October 22 to 24 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. Visitors could also experience the automaker’s e-POWER technology through test drives of the new Kicks and X-Trail.
Nissan said customers could reserve the Navara Pro PHEV and Primera EV through its Philippine website ahead of their November introduction.
The launches expand the company’s local electrification strategy beyond its existing e-POWER offerings, which use a gasoline engine to generate electricity for an electric motor.
With the Navara Pro PHEV and Primera EV, Nissan is preparing to offer two distinct approaches to electrified mobility. Their eventual appeal to Filipino buyers, however, will depend on the pricing, specifications and ownership considerations Nissan discloses closer to launch.

Autocar’s Take
Nissan’s decision to bring the Navara Pro PHEV and Primera EV to the Philippines is an interesting move, particularly as electrification continues to reshape the automotive market. The plug-in hybrid pickup could appeal to buyers who want utility without abandoning the promise of electric driving, while the Primera EV gives the brand a fresh entry into the executive sedan segment.
Still, introducing new powertrains is only part of the challenge. Competitive pricing, practical driving range, charging support and after-sales service will determine their appeal. The Japanese automaker has opened the door; now it must show Filipino buyers why these vehicles deserve consideration.
