After breaking the front-wheel drive track record set by the Honda Civic Type R FK8 Limited Edition at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan last March, the next generation Honda Civic Type R prototype is now in the United States for a series of demonstration. The upcoming Honda Civic Type R, which was still under camouflage wrap, did several hot laps around the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course over the weekend in time for the Honda Indy 200 NTT INDYCAR SERIES. This marks the first North American public appearance of the highly anticipated Honda hot hatch. The next-gen Civic Type R prototype was piloted by Honda’s North Ameriacan Auto Development Center vehicle dynamics engineer Chad Gilsinger during its shakedown. Making its first US appearance fruitful, the 2023 Honda Civic Type R will serve as the lead car at one of weekend’s race.
With the Type R badge representing the high performance Honda models, the upcoming next-gen Civic Type R is set to continue the legacy of the Civic Type R lineage. With its recent record-breaking visit at the Suzuka Circuit, the upcoming Honda hot hatch proves itself to be the best performing Civic Type R yet. The all-new Honda Civic Type R is set for its official debut this year.
