Jaguar has given the public its first look inside the Type 01, its first new car in years. The latest photo reveal shows a cabin that takes the British brand’s new design direction into a more dramatic territory.
Instead of following the now-very-familiar horizontal dashboard layout seen across much of the luxury car industry, the Type 01 uses a full-length central spine as the defining element of its cabin. According to Jaguar, the structure creates four individual spaces inside the four-door GT, while also emphasizing the car’s long, low proportions.
The driver gets a particularly distinctive environment. The seating position is low and designed to surround the cockpit, with Jaguar describing it as a confidence-inspiring GT driving position. The overall approach is intended to make the cabin feel more like a carefully designed space than simply an arrangement of seats, screens and controls.
Material choices are equally important to the Type 01’s character. Jaguar says the interior takes inspiration from travertine stone and artisan textiles, with a brass-inspired finish running along the central spine and continuing across the tops of the doors. The latter also carry Jaguar leaper motifs as part of the cabin’s visual treatment.
Technology, meanwhile, has been deliberately integrated into the architecture rather than allowed to dominate it. The slim dashboard incorporates Jaguar’s new infotainment system, while a digital ClearSight Rear View Display sits centrally at the base of the windscreen. Positioned at roughly the same height as the door mirrors, it is intended to help the driver maintain focus.
Jaguar is also promising plenty of details that only reveal themselves when needed, including concealed compartments, hidden technology and flashes of color. It describes these touches as part of its new modernist design philosophy.
The Type 01 is more than a styling exercise, however. Jaguar says it will become its first production model built on the dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), an architecture developed specifically for the brand’s next generation of electric vehicles. The four-door GT is also intended to establish a new approach to Jaguar’s proportions, dynamics and occupant experience.
Before its full reveal, the Type 01 prototype will appear in North America wearing a new wrap during Monterey Car Week, culminating in an appearance at the Pebble Beach Concours on August 16.
The wait for the complete car will end in New York on October 6, 2026, when Jaguar says the Type 01 will be fully revealed.

Jaguar Type 01 is taking a rather different route to making a luxury interior feel special. Instead of throwing more screens and visual clutter at the driver, Jaguar has made the cabin architecture itself the talking point. That central spine gives the interior a distinctive character, while the low driving position and restrained technology suggest a more driver-focused interpretation of modern luxury.
Whether the production car can deliver the same drama as these early images remains to be seen, but the direction is certainly interesting. With the Jaguar Type 01 also becoming the brand’s first JEA-based production model, this could be an important turning point for Jaguar.
