Grab Philippines is strengthening its push toward cleaner transportation by partnering with EV charging station providers ACMobility and EVOxCharge to make electric vehicle charging more accessible and affordable for taxi and transport network vehicle service (TNVS) drivers.
The agreements give GrabTaxi Electric and GrabCar Electric operators access to a combined network of more than 600 EV charging station points across the country at discounted rates. According to Grab, the initiative could reduce charging costs by as much as 45 percent, helping address one of the biggest challenges to wider EV adoption among commercial drivers.
Beyond lower charging costs, the expanded network aims to improve convenience by increasing access to charging stations in key locations. Grab said easier charging access, combined with lower operating expenses, could make electric vehicles a more practical option for drivers who rely on their vehicles for daily income.
The partnerships are part of Grab’s EcoDrive program, which seeks to make fleet electrification more commercially viable by tackling barriers such as EV charging station availability, financing, vehicle access, and operating costs.
Through its collaboration with ACMobility, Grab drivers can also use ChargeFleet, a digital fleet management platform integrated into the Evro app. The system allows fleet operators to manage charging credits more efficiently while giving drivers access to ACMobility’s network of more than 500 charge points located at fuel stations, malls, hotels, retail establishments, offices, and residential developments. The app also displays Department of Energy-accredited charging stations to help drivers better plan their routes.
Meanwhile, EVOxCharge contributes more than 130 charging points to the program, including its flagship charging hub at TDG InHub in Taguig and additional locations in SM malls and S&R branches. Its xCharge+ platform also provides fleet management tools designed to simplify day-to-day operations for commercial operators.
To enjoy the discounted charging rates, GrabTaxi Electric and GrabCar Electric drivers only need to register the email address linked to their Evro or xCharge+ accounts so they can be included in the program.
Grab said the initiative supports the country’s transition toward low-carbon transport while aligning with the goals of the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA). The company added that it will continue working with charging providers, vehicle manufacturers, financial institutions, and government partners to further develop the country’s electric mobility ecosystem.
