Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has reinforced its support for local government unit (LGU) operations by turning over 20 Traviz L units to the Municipality of Lambunao in Iloilo. The move aims to expand the LGU’s public services at the barangay level.
The ceremonial turnover took place last February 12, 2026, and was carried out in partnership with Issuu Iloilo. According to IPC, the vehicles will be deployed across various barangays in Lambunao to serve as multi-purpose service units supporting emergency response, logistics operations, and community programs.
Present during the ceremony were IPC Vice President for Sales, Shunsuke Yasui; Isuzu Iloilo Branch Manager, Vanessa Lutero; and Lambunao Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) Chairman, Mary Floridette Yu. The executives highlighted the collaboration between Isuzu, its dealer network, and the local government.
The Traviz units will be used for a wide range of tasks, including disaster relief operations, the delivery of supplies, the transportation of barangay personnel, and logistics support for various health and public service programs. Each barangay will have the flexibility to deploy the Traviz based on its most urgent operational needs.

“This turnover highlights Isuzu Philippines’ long-standing commitment to uplifting local communities by supporting their essential operations daily. With the Isuzu Traviz, dependable mobility is now more accessible to each barangay. We are confident that these units will make a positive impact by strengthening public service operations – whether in emergency response, health programs, or community initiatives,” said IPC Vice President for Sales Shunsuke Yasui.
Designed as a light-duty truck for both commercial and institutional use, the Isuzu Traviz features compact dimensions that allow it to navigate through narrow barangay roads and rural pathways where large trucks may struggle. This advantage in maneuverability is expected to help improve response times during emergencies and enable efficient delivery of goods and services to remote communities.
The vehicle is powered by the Isuzu 4JA1 Blue Power diesel engine. IPC says the powertrain delivers notable durability and efficiency while maintaining a simple mechanical design, enabling easier maintenance and lower operational costs for fleet operators such as local governments.
Representing the LGU, Lambunao BAC Chairman Mary Floridette Yu went on to say, “The Municipality of Lambunao welcomes the addition of the 20 Isuzu Traviz L units. These vehicles will greatly enhance the efficiency of our frontline teams. By equipping our barangays with dependable transport, we can better respond to community needs.”
Autocar’s Take
Fleet purchases by LGUs often attract attention, but the real measure of value lies in how effectively those vehicles serve communities. In Lambunao’s case, deploying light-duty trucks like the Isuzu Traviz across barangays appears to address practical needs: logistics, personnel mobility, and emergency response.
Vehicles that can navigate tight rural roads while carrying people, supplies, or relief goods can make a meaningful difference during disasters or public service operations. The key challenge, however, will be long-term maintenance and proper utilization. With proper guidance and assistance from Isuzu Iloilo in maintaining the vehicles and educating LGUs on how to properly take care of the units, these trucks could become everyday workhorses that will strengthen LGU services where they matter most – at the barangay level.
