The North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year (NACTOY) Awards have celebrated automotive excellence for over 30 years. These prestigious awards recognize outstanding achievements in innovation, design, safety, performance, technology, user experience, driver satisfaction, and value. Each year, the selection process begins with a “long list” of contenders, rigorously tested and evaluated by 50 professional automotive journalists from the United States and Canada. On January 10, 2025, during the Detroit Auto Show’s media day, the winners of the NACTOY Awards 2025 were revealed. Among them, the Honda Civic Hybrid earned the title of 2025 North American Car of the Year, securing a total of 205 votes. This marks the fourth time the iconic Civic nameplate has been recognized by one of North America’s most respected automotive awards programs. The Honda Civic previously won in 2006, 2016, and 2022.
John Voelcker, a NACTOY juror and Contributing Editor for Car and Driver, Green Car Reports, and Inside EVs, praised the Civic Hybrid, stating: “The Honda Civic has won awards for half a century now, and the Civic Hybrid brings Honda’s superb and fuel-efficient hybrid system into one of the market’s best compact sedans. Fun, fuel-efficient, and more elegant than its predecessors, it’s a hands-down winner.”
