Honda Foundation, Inc. (HFI) continues its commitment to educating the Filipino youth about the importance of road safety by collaborating with the Department of Education – Schools Division Office (DepEd-SDO) of Santa Rosa City.
HFI announced that it has conducted the Students on Safety (SOS) Program, which aims to bring road safety education closer to Filipino students through interactive learning sessions. The company’s SOS Program was held across 11 beneficiary pubic schools in Santa Rosa City, Laguna. HFI shared that more than 380 students aged 16 and above, including some faculty members, have more knowledge of how to become responsible road users.
Students gained valuable road safety awareness and learned about safe mobility habits through learning sessions conducted by Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC) certified instructors. The initiative also featured engaging activities and practical training that made road safety education a fun learning experience for the students, according to HFI.
HFI added that its SOS Program reinforces its commitment to building a culture of road safety across generations and communities. The program is part of Honda’s broader road safety efforts to help reduce road crash fatalities, which are efforts to support the Japanese automaker’s global goal of achieving zero traffic collision fatalities by 2050.
Early this year, HFI renewed its partnership with Tamang Ride PH for 2026, bolstering a shared commitment to road safety education among young Filipinos. Similar to its SOS Program, its partnership with Tamang Ride PH aims to expand the reach of campus-based road safety programs tailored for children and beginner road users.
HSDC certified instructors facilitated on-site Test Ride and Learn to Ride sessions using Honda motorcycles. The hands-on component allowed inexperienced participants to practice basic riding skills under professional supervision in a safe, controlled environment. It also included discussions focused on traffic rules, responsible riding practices, and the mindset required of future drivers and daily commuters.

Through its programs, HFI aims to help students become more responsible and more courteous road users. This is nice since the programs that it has been implementing could allow the youth to get first-hand knowledge of how important road safety is. It also allows participants to know the proper road etiquette, which is crucial, as having more courteous motorists on the road could lead to fewer road rage incidents, better traffic flow, and more importantly, fewer accidents.
