GAC International Philippines is all charged up for the upcoming arrival of the Aion UT, a battery electric vehicle (BEV) that will serve as the car brand’s contender in the electric hatchback segment. The GAC Aion UT is scheduled to make its official PH debut this month and will go up against the likes of the BYD Seagull

GAC PH said that the Aion UT is designed for “trend-seeking Filipino drivers who value both style and substance.” The Aion UT, which is inspired by European art and fashion, comes with a sleek exterior design that’s complemented by striking LED headlights. The Chinese car brand added that it is an electric hatchback designed to stand out whether navigating busy streets or pulling into weekend destinations.

Inside, it comes with a minimalist interior, featuring a clutter-free dashboard layout that’s highlighted by a 14.6-inch infotainment central screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. It also has an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster, which gives the cabin a modern finish. Another standout design feature you would probably notice is the GAC Aion UT’s two-spoke steering wheel.

Based on the specs shared by GAC PH, the Aion UT is equipped with six airbags and several intelligent driver assistance technologies that include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and blind spot detection, among others. It is also integrated with a surround view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, automatic braking when reversing at low speed, and a tire pressure monitor system.

The GAC Aion UT also features GAC’s ultra-safe “Magazine Battery” technology, a high-strength steel body structure, and fast-charging capability that can replenish the battery from 30 percent to 80 percent in approximately 24 minutes.

The Aion UT has a 44.12 kWh battery that generates 136 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. GAC claims it can go from zero to 100 km/h in 11.4 seconds, and has a maximum EV driving range of 400 km (NEDC).

GAC PH also provides a “zero-anxiety” ownership experience through its growing nationwide network of 30 dealerships, a dedicated Manila parts warehouse, and comprehensive aftersales support. EV models come with an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty, as well as an 8-year or 200,000 km warranty for the core three-electric system. All new owners also receive two years of free roadside assistance.

The Aion UT will be offered in five body colors, namely: Champs-Elysees Beige, Emerald Green, Rococo White, and Seine Silver, plus a two-tone combination of Rococo White + Emerald Green.  Other specifications will be shared in subsequent announcements.

Interested individuals may now visit their nearest GAC dealership to learn more about the Aion UT and place pre-reservations ahead of its launch.

Autocar’s Take

GAC Philippines is expanding its model lineup yet again with the upcoming launch of the Aion UT. The said vehicle is an electric hatchback, which will go up against the likes of the BYD Seagull, an EV that helped BYD achieve a notable sales performance in 2025. With the Aion UT, GAC PH aims to take a slice of the Seagull’s market share in the electric hatchback segment.

This also shows that the electric hatchback segment in the local market is looking to be busy this year, as Geely Philippines also plans to launch the EX2. The Geely EX2 is an electric hatchback that will go head-to-head with the Seagull and the Aion UT once it is officially launched in the Philippines.
