Ford Philippines marked its annual Global Caring Month with a series of volunteer activities that brought together employees, dealers, and partners to support communities across the country.

Held throughout September, this year’s program focused on elderly care, community development, education, social welfare, and youth support. Ford Philippines worked with Gawad Kalinga, the American Chamber Foundation, and new partner Cartwheel Foundation as part of its efforts.

The month-long initiative began in Davao City, where Ford volunteers joined the Philippine Eagle Foundation and Ford Davao for the unveiling of a ceremonial marker for outdoor classroom projects serving six Indigenous Peoples communities. Volunteers took part in arts and crafts, storytelling, birdwatching, cultural discussions, entrepreneurial coaching, and meet-and-greet activities.

Ford and dealership volunteers also visited Tahanan ng Mahal na Ina ng Guadalupe, a home for elderly women managed by the Missionary Sisters of Evangelization. The volunteers provided food, vitamins, medicines, and groceries while spending time with the 25 residents through various social activities.

One of the main activities was a bayanihan effort at Gawad Kalinga PNOC Olaes Village in Cavite. More than 40 Ford Philippines employees, led by Ford Philippines managing director Pedro Simoes, helped repaint houses, schools, livelihood structures, a basketball court, and a multi-purpose hall. The team also prepared Bayong ng Pag-Asa packages containing food essentials and vegetables for more than 120 families.

In Batangas, Ford volunteers visited the Rev. Fr. Vincenzo Idà Children’s Home, which provides care for neglected, orphaned, abandoned, surrendered, and foundling children in CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon). Volunteers spent time with the children while providing essential supplies.

Ford Philippines also began its partnership with Cartwheel Foundation to support Indigenous children through culturally relevant education. Volunteers prepared hot meals, provided tutoring, and offered psychosocial support to children in Parañaque.

Other outreach activities were held at Little Angels Home Inc. and Munting Tahanan ng Nazareth, where Ford employees distributed essential supplies, clothing, and vitamins to abandoned children with special needs. Volunteers also joined play sessions and other activities intended to encourage interaction and connection.

“Global Caring Month is an opportunity for us to come together as a Ford family and reaffirm our commitment to giving back to the communities around us,” said Kent Primor, Ford Philippines director for Government and Corporate Affairs.

Primor added that Ford’s community efforts will continue beyond September, with the company maintaining its focus on supporting communities and creating meaningful impact.

Autocar’s Take

Ford Philippines’ Global Caring Month is a good reminder that corporate community work does not always have to revolve around large donations or headline-grabbing projects. Sometimes, the most useful contribution is simply showing up and getting involved. From helping Indigenous children and elderly residents to repainting community facilities and preparing food packages for families, Ford volunteers took on very hands-on roles.

The partnership with Cartwheel Foundation is also worth watching, particularly because education and cultural connection can have benefits that extend beyond a single outreach event. More importantly, the company says these efforts will continue beyond September, which is where the real value of a community program is ultimately measured.
