The Ferrari Luce is arguably one of the most anticipated vehicles in recent times, since it is the first electric vehicle (EV) from the Italian automaker. When it was officially launched, it gained mixed reactions from enthusiasts, and a good number of those reactions leaned towards the not-so-satisfied verdict.
Despite the mixed reactions, Ferrari’s first EV is making headlines as it was sold at an auction for a very significant price. Car auction company RM Sotheby’s auctioned a special 2026 Ferrari Luce Tailor Made in Monterey, California, where the Italian EV was sold for USD 40 million (around P2.45 billion).
The 2026 Ferrari Luce Tailor Made is known as “Chassis 0,” which is said to be the first production vehicle built for the Ferrari Luce model. The Chassis 0 Luce was crafted through the automaker’s specialized Tailor Made program, which allows buyers to work directly with Ferrari’s designers to produce a unique or one-of-a-kind vehicle.

The Ferrari Luce Chassis 0 features a custom paint dubbed Madreperla Semi-Gloss, which is said to be a pearlescent white finish. Depending on how the sunlight hits the Luce’s body, subtle hints of purple and green shine through. To match the exterior color, the EV is equipped with white wheels and custom brake calipers, resulting in a clean, minimalist exterior look.
The white color theme continues to be seen in the cabin. RM Sotheby’s shared that the interior introduces a new interpretation of luminosity through the use of Le Mans metallic leather in Perla, an exclusive material developed for the Ferrari Tailor Made program. The Perla Le Mans metallic leather is accented by a gray shade called Grigio Corvara.

The Ferrari Luce Chassis 0, which sold for P2.45 billion, comes equipped with the same powertrain as the standard Luce electric supercar. This means that it comes with four electric motors powered by a 122 kWh battery pack. It produces over 1,000 horsepower, and Ferrari claims the Luce can go from zero to 100 km/h in just 2.4 seconds. On a full charge, Ferrari said that the Luce EV offers 531 kilometers of driving range.
Of note, Ferrari is donating all the P2.45 billion to the Ferrari Foundation, a charity that supports educational projects around the world. RM Sotheby’s has also waived all standard buyer fees for the lot to maximize the EV’s final auction price.
Meanwhile, the new owner of the Ferrari Luce Chassis 0 will have to wait a little while before having the actual EV in their possession. The reason for this is that the Luce will first have to make a return trip to Ferrari headquarters in Maranello, Italy, for final preparation and checks. The official delivery to the winning bidder is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.

Autocar’s Take
The Ferrari Luce is probably one of the most anticipated vehicles to date, since it is the first electric vehicle from the Italian automaker. With Ferrari’s global status, enthusiasts around the world expected a lot from the Luce. However, when it debuted, it got mixed reactions, and most of them leaned towards the negative. Despite that, it seems that there are individuals who find the Luce EV attractive, such as the winning bidder at RM Sotheby’s. Buying the Ferrari Luce Chassis 0 for P2.45 billion speaks volumes about how special the said EV is for the winning bidder.
