EVAP Laos trip a success

The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) said that its goal to nurture cross-border collaboration in its trip to Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) was a success.

The Association said that the delegation headed by Chairman Rommel Juan and President Edmund Araga — with the help of Executive Director Dr. Manny Biona — helped them “explore opportunities in the world of electric mobility.”

Upon arrival, the group was welcomed by First Secretary and Commercial Consul Rapunzel Acop of the Philippine Embassy. The consul gave the delegation insights about the country’s economy and electric vehicle (EV) industry.

After that, EVAP also had a meeting with Deputy Director of Laos’ Department of Transportation Manny Kham. The group invited the government official to speak at the 11th Philippine EV Summit at the SMX Mall of Asia on October 19-21.

Lastly, the delegation also met Loca Company Limited Chief Executive Officer Souliyo Vongdala. To note, the Lao tech startup has a fleet of around 250 electric vehicles.

According to EVAP, Vongdala expressed eagerness on helping his home country build its own EV group and join the Asean Federation for Electric Vehicle Associations (AFEVA). He will also join the forthcoming EV Summit.
