Chery Auto Philippines announced that it has recorded a notable 47.5 percent year-over-year (YOY) growth as consumers shift toward new energy vehicles. Leading the charge for Chery is its seven-seater SUV, the Tiggo rEV.
Chery PH said that its strong YOY performance was driven by its January to April 2026 sales performance. Among the main contributors to its local sales is the Tiggo rEV, which accounted for 57 percent of the car brand’s total Year-To-Date sales. Chery shared that the positive market appeal for the Tiggo rEV highlights the increasing preference among Filipino motorists for alternative energy vehicles amid continued fuel price volatility.
“The current market environment has accelerated consumer interest in practical, value-driven mobility solutions,” Chery Auto Philippines Brand Head Franz Decloedt said.
The Chery Tiggo rEV is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine paired with a dedicated hybrid transmission. Together with its electric drive system, it delivers 204 hp and 310 Nm of torque. Chery claims that the Tiggo rEV LE boasts a combined powertrain driving range of 1,400 km.
It is also equipped with an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), which includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind spot monitoring. The Tiggo rEV LE also features a 540-degree camera system, complemented with dynamic guidelines and a built-in front digital video recorder for added safety.

Last March 2026, Chery PH launched the Chery Smart Access app, which is now available for the Tiggo rEV. The said app was launched by the Chinese car brand through an exclusive event it organized for Chery Tiggo rEV owners, held at the UAAGI Auto Group Center for Technical Excellence. It was attended by 88 Tiggo rEV owners, wherein Chery prepared an immersive brand experience.
UAAGI, the official distributor of Chery vehicles in the country, added that the current industry landscape has also reinforced the growing competitiveness of emerging automotive brands that offer high-value products and alternative energy solutions. The brand noted that local consumers are becoming more fuel-conscious and are prioritizing vehicles that deliver lower operating costs and better overall efficiency.
“As fuel prices remain elevated, more customers are recognizing the long-term benefits of hybrid and electric vehicles, and the Chery Tiggo rEV has become a compelling option for Filipino families seeking efficiency without compromising comfort and technology,” UAAGI Deputy Director Joshua Sytin said.
With its expanding electrified lineup, Chery PH remains optimistic about sustaining its growth trajectory despite broader market headwinds.

Autocar’s Take
Chery Auto Philippines continues to carry its sales momentum as it reported another notable year-on-year performance. This shows that the local market is shifting and is already considering new energy vehicles that are designed and engineered to deliver better fuel economy numbers as compared to conventional internal combustion engines.
Among the vehicles that contributed to its sales numbers is the Chery Tiggo rEV, a seven-seater SUV that comes with a hybrid powertrain. The Tiggo rEV is gaining traction in the local market, and a testament to this is the exclusive event organized by Chery PH, which included the participation of Tiggo rEV owners. This shows that Chery PH values its current Tiggo rEV owners and is doing the legwork to further expand the network of rEV owners in the country.
