As electric vehicle ownership gains traction in the Philippines, BYD is highlighting the importance of education and owner support in helping motorists understand the technology beyond the initial purchase.
The company is supporting broader electric vehicle awareness through its growing owner communities, complementing ACMobility’s Drive Electric. EV Safety Program, which continued its rollout at the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) following its launch in August.
The program aims to provide EV owners, prospective buyers, fleet operators and the general public with practical information on electric vehicle technology, safety, charging and ownership costs. For BYD, these efforts complement the knowledge-sharing activities taking place among its customers.
“We’re glad to see BYD owners building communities where they can learn from and support one another. We want to continue celebrating these groups by helping provide access to relevant information, knowledge, and support throughout the ownership journey,” said Bob Palanca, managing director of BYD Cars Philippines.
He added that listening to owners also allows the company to better understand their experiences and needs as it works to increase awareness of electrified mobility in the country.
As BYD expands its Philippine lineup, communities built around its different models are also growing. These groups serve as informal spaces where owners exchange practical advice, discuss vehicle features, compare driving experiences and share information about everyday operating costs.

Aaron Estabillo, a BYD Sealion 6 owner and member of the group’s moderator team, said these communities give members access to perspectives they might not encounter through their individual ownership experiences.
For prospective buyers, such discussions can provide useful firsthand accounts to consider alongside professional reviews and dealership consultations.
The activities also extend beyond online conversations. Members organize camping trips, outreach programs, and vehicle gatherings, while some have opportunities to interact with BYD representatives and technical experts.
The combination of owner engagement and formal EV education addresses different aspects of the transition to electric mobility. While safety programs help explain the technology and emergency preparedness, owner communities offer practical insights into what living with an EV involves.
Charging infrastructure and after-sales support also remain important parts of the ownership experience. Together, these resources can help motorists make more informed decisions, whether they are considering their first electric vehicle or already driving one.
For BYD, strengthening these connections is another way to support its expanding customer base while encouraging greater understanding of electrified mobility in the Philippines.

Autocar’s Take
Electric vehicle education should not end when a customer drives a new car out of the showroom. In many ways, that is when the real learning begins. BYD’s growing owner communities offer something particularly useful: firsthand experiences that prospective buyers cannot always get from brochures or product presentations.
Questions about charging, running costs and everyday usability are best answered through a combination of reliable information and actual ownership experiences. ACMobility‘s EV safety initiative adds another important layer.
As the Philippine EV market develops, informed owners and accessible safety education will be just as important as having more electric vehicles on the road.
