Aston Martin unleashes Valkyrie Hypercar Le Mans Challenger

Aston Martin marks a historic return to the pinnacle of endurance racing with the debut of its Valkyrie Hypercar. As the only competitor derived from a road-legal hypercar, the Valkyrie will compete in both the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IMSA), with its race debut set for the Qatar 1812Km on February 28, 2025.

“Returning to challenge for victory at Le Mans is at the core of Aston Martin’s DNA,” said Adrian Hallmark, CEO of Aston Martin Lagonda. “The Valkyrie embodies our legacy of high-performance racing.”

All-British Line-Up for Le Mans

Leading the charge in the #007 Valkyrie is Harry Tincknell, joined by rising endurance star Tom Gamble. The sister #009 car features Marco Sørensen and Alex Riberas. In IMSA, Ross Gunn and Roman De Angelis pilot the #23 entry, with both drivers also joining Aston Martin’s WEC squad for the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.

A Hypercar Born for the Track

Developed by Aston Martin Performance Technologies and The Heart of Racing (THOR), the Valkyrie retains its road-going DNA while being optimized for endurance racing. Powered by a modified 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 from Cosworth, the race-spec Valkyrie meets FIA Hypercar regulations with a 500kW (680bhp) power limit, enhanced fuel efficiency, and aerodynamics refined for maximum performance.

Dual Championship Campaign

Since its first test runs in mid-2024, the Valkyrie has covered over 15,000km across premier racing circuits worldwide. Two Valkyries will contest the WEC season, starting in Qatar and culminating in Bahrain, while a single entry in IMSA will debut at Sebring in March.

“We’re joining a highly competitive grid, but we’re here to win,” said Adam Carter, Aston Martin’s Head of Endurance Motorsport. “The Hypercar era is a golden opportunity, and we are ready to embrace the challenge.”
