Geely’s electric vehicle push has reached a significant milestone, with the EX2 surpassing one million cumulative global sales just two years after its debut. The compact electric hatchback achieved the mark in early October, underscoring its growing presence in a segment where affordability, practicality and everyday usability are increasingly important.
According to Geely, the EX2 was globally introduced on October 9, 2024, and has since expanded into more than 30 markets across Europe, Latin America, Asia Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East. The company said the model’s sales performance translates to approximately one unit sold every minute.
The EX2 also delivered strong numbers in 2025, recording 465,775 units sold during the year. Geely cited figures from research firm IHS Markit, which identified the model as the world’s best-selling vehicle in the A and B segments and China’s best-selling vehicle across all segments.
That performance gives the EX2 an important role in Geely’s international expansion, particularly as automakers continue to introduce smaller electric vehicles aimed at urban drivers. Its compact dimensions and five-seat configuration make it suited to everyday transportation, while its electric powertrain offers an alternative to conventional gasoline-powered hatchbacks.

Underneath, the EX2 uses a rear-wheel-drive layout paired with multi-link rear suspension. Geely also highlights its integrated electric drive unit as part of the vehicle’s engineering package. Another practical feature is a 70-liter front storage compartment, providing additional space for smaller items beyond the regular rear cargo area.
Safety has also become part of the model’s selling point. Geely said the EX2 received five-star ratings under the 2026 assessment protocols of both Euro NCAP and the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).
Its growing international footprint suggests that Geely sees the EX2 as more than a domestic volume seller. Expanding its availability across different regions gives the company another model to introduce buyers to electric mobility, particularly in markets where smaller vehicles remain relevant.
For now, the million-unit milestone highlights the model’s established position in Geely’s electric vehicle lineup. Whether it can maintain that momentum as competition intensifies will depend on how well it adapts to the needs of individual markets, including pricing, equipment and local driving conditions.
For the Philippine market, the EX2 is an interesting model to watch as demand for more accessible electric vehicles continues to develop. However, Geely’s announcement does not confirm a local introduction or provide details of any Philippine-market plans.

Autocar’s Take
The Geely EX2’s one-million-unit milestone is worth paying attention to, especially as smaller electric vehicles gain ground in international markets. Right off the bat, its success shows that an EV does not necessarily need to be large or packed with extravagant features to attract buyers. Practicality, accessibility and everyday usability can be just as important.
For the Philippine market, this is an interesting development. A compact electric hatchback could appeal to buyers looking for an alternative to conventional city cars, provided the pricing and ownership package make sense. Whether the EX2 eventually reaches our shores remains worth watching.
