Fairthron Transport Service Cooperative has expanded its modern public utility vehicle (MPUV) fleet with 10 additional Hyundai Class 3 units, strengthening its capacity to serve commuters traveling between SM Fairview and SM North in Quezon City.

The new vehicles were formally inaugurated on October 26, 2026, during an event at the Greater Lagro Barangay Hall in Quezon City. Hariphil Asia Resources Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai Truck & Bus (HTB) in the Philippines, joined the cooperative in marking the latest addition to its fleet under the Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP).

With the latest acquisition, Fairthron Transport now operates 25 Hyundai Class 3 MPUVs, up from its initial fleet of 15 units when it began using the vehicles in 2022.

The expansion reflects the cooperative’s continued investment in modern public transportation, particularly along the SM Fairview-SM North corridor, which serves commuters traveling across parts of Quezon City.

The inauguration brought together representatives from the transport industry, government and local community. Among those present were Fairthron Transport Service Cooperative Chairman Angelito Roque, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-National Capital Region Regional Director Atty. Zona Russet Tamayo, Pandacan Transport Chairman Edmond Cadavola and Sandigan Transport Chairman Ferdinand Lupangosy.

Also attending were Greater Lagro Barangay Chairman Leo Garra and HARI representatives Timothy Magisa, assistant vice president for the National Sales Division, and Vanessa Estrella, assistant manager for sales.

For HARI, the additional vehicles highlight the importance of working with transport cooperatives as they transition toward modernized public transportation operations.

“The addition of these units underscores the continued partnership between HARI and Fairthron Transport Service Cooperative in advancing public transport modernization,” said HARI Vice Chairman, President and CEO Maria Fe Perez-Agudo.

Perez-Agudo added that Fairthron’s investment demonstrates its commitment to serving commuters along the route. She also emphasized the need to provide transport cooperatives with dependable mobility solutions that can support their operational growth and contribute to a more efficient and accessible public transportation system.

Fleet expansion means additional modern public utility vehicles serving an established route. It also highlights how partnerships with commercial vehicle distributors can support fleet development as the country’s public transport modernization efforts continue.

HARI said transport cooperatives and operators interested in expanding their fleets may contact Hyundai Truck & Bus Philippines to learn more about its commercial vehicle offerings and mobility solutions.

Autocar’s Take

Fairthron Transport’s latest fleet expansion is a practical example of how public transport modernization takes shape beyond government policies and industry announcements. Growing from 15 to 25 Hyundai Class 3 MPUVs since 2022 shows that the cooperative continues to invest in its operations and the route it serves. More importantly, fleet expansion should translate into dependable service, consistent vehicle maintenance and a better commuting experience. In today’s busy world, the additional units are a welcome development for the commuters, as well as for the transport operator.
