Kia Philippines has shared practical tips and a vehicle safety checklist for the upcoming Undas travel, which would most likely involve driving on the expressway and provincial roads. The Korean car brand reminds that road safety remains the top priority for travelers.

Kia PH Managing Director Jay Lopez said that the car brand is committed to helping families arrive safely and comfortably at their respective destinations this Undas. Lopez added that planning the route and practicing safe driving will result in hassle-free Undas travel.

“As families come together for All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day, the travel season brings unique demands for every motorist heading out of town, and Kia is committed to helping families arrive safely and comfortably. Whether you are driving a conventional vehicle or an EV, taking the time to inspect your car, plan your route, and practice safe driving makes all the difference when facing heavy highway traffic and long hours behind the wheel,” Lopez said.

Before hitting the road, Kia reminds motorists of the usual B-L-O-W-B-A-G-E-T-S checklist, a list that may sound already trivial to some, but it can help make your journeys safer.

Battery: Check the 12-volt battery terminal health on all cars; for electric vehicle (EV) drivers, inspect ports for debris, and bring your portable chargers.

Lights: Test headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and hazard indicators for clear road visibility.

Oil: Check engine oil in fuel-powered vehicles; verify no maintenance alerts for EV reduction gear fluid.

Water & Coolant: Inspect engine or EV battery coolant levels and top up windshield washer fluid.

Brakes: Check fluid levels, pad wear, and pedal firmness; confirm EV regenerative braking modes engage properly.

Air: Check that tires are properly inflated for heavy passenger loads and that the cabin air filter is clean.

Gas/Grid: Map fuel stops or charging locations through the Evro app.

Engine/Electric Drive Unit: Check engine belts and fuel lines for leaks on conventional cars, or ensure the high-voltage system and drive units show zero warning lights upon startup.

Tires: Check tread depth, look for sidewall cracks or foreign objects, and ensure the spare tire or tire repair kit is ready.

Self: Rest thoroughly before driving, plan rest stops, and reload expressway RFIDs to prevent tollgate delays.

Once on the road, it is recommended to keep a three- to four-second following distance to the car up front to allow ample stopping room. Do not tailgate or drive too close to the vehicle ahead, as this could be a recipe for a major crash. To save energy, Kia PH said that EV drivers may use regenerative braking to reclaim energy during highway bottlenecks, while fuel-vehicle drivers should favor gradual throttle inputs to conserve fuel.

This covers emergency towing, flat tire replacement, battery jump-starts, fuel delivery, locksmith service, minor on-site repairs, spare-key delivery, medical assistance, misfueling support, and crane recovery.

Kia owners can coordinate with their preferred dealer or contact the 24/7 hotline at (02) 8459-4795 or 0917-1787496 for full coverage details or immediate support.

Autocar’s Take

Undas holiday is upcoming, and that means more cars are expected to be driving through major expressways and provincial roads. Getting to one’s respective destination could involve a lot of driving, which is why Kia Philippines is reminding all motorists to have their cars checked first before hitting the road. Every motorist should also practice courteous driving, which would help a lot in making the journeys safer and more enjoyable for everyone. Drive within your limits and make sure the driver is well-rested before hitting the road.
