GAC has debuted the Aion UT Cross subcompact crossover at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. The Chinese automaker said that the UT Cross elevates the Aion’s existing “supermini” offering that is just as capable at navigating narrow city streets as it is at carrying camping gear for a weekend adventure.
“One car that fits your whole life! That is the Aion UT Cross,” said GAC International President Wei Haigang.
The Aion UT Cross is developed at GAC’s Milan Design Centre. It is being marketed as a light off-road crossover electric vehicle (EV) that combines “hatchback agility, wagon-like space and SUV-level capability.” GAC said that the Aion UT Cross is specifically tailored for the European market.
The Aion UT Cross rides 20mm higher than the regular Aion UT hatchback, a model that is available in the Philippine market. Aside from having a higher ground clearance, the GAC Aion UT Cross features a glossy black trim seen on its front fascia. It also has a silver trim on the front, matte black wheel arches, and a “floating” roof design.

Speaking of which, the Aion UT Cross is equipped with black roof rails, making it a functional subcompact crossover EV. The Aion UT Cross also comes with a different wheel design than the Aion UT hatchback in the local market.
The GAC Aion UT Cross has a wheelbase of 2,750mm, and it is said to offer 440 liters of luggage space. Folding the rear seats flat creates additional cargo area to accommodate an assortment of items. GAC added that the Aion UT Cross has 24 storage compartments, and its body is made of high-strength steel, accounting for 71 percent of the vehicle’s body, as per GAC.
The GAC Aion UT Cross is claimed to deliver up to 400 kilometers of WLTP range, while fast charging from 30 percent to 80 percent takes just 24 minutes.

Autocar’s Take
GAC intends to expand its market presence in the European market, as it debuted the Aion UT Cross, a subcompact crossover EV that is said to be designed specifically for the European market. It resembles the Aion UT hatchback that’s available in the Philippine market, with the stark difference being the glossy black trim fitted on the exterior of the Aion UT Cross. Aside from the gloss black trim, the Aion UT Cross has roof rails, which emphasize that it is an EV that’s meant to carry a load, especially when going on a weekend adventure.
