MG Motor Philippines is preparing to expand its electrification push with the Philippine debut of the new MG S5 EV, which it previewed last July. The launch will happen alongside the start of its nationwide MG New Energy Tour 2026.

The two initiatives will officially kick off on August 27, 2026, at the Trinoma Activity Center, where MG will introduce its latest all-electric compact SUV and bring its growing electrified vehicle lineup closer to Filipino motorists.

At the center of the event is the MG S5 EV, an all-electric compact SUV that combines the practicality of an SUV with rear-wheel-drive performance. MG positions the new model as a vehicle designed not only for everyday commuting, but also for errands, family trips and weekend drives.

The S5 EV is also being positioned as a more engaging option for motorists who want to make the switch to electric mobility without giving up driving enjoyment. According to MG, its rear-wheel-drive layout gives the compact SUV a sportier character while retaining the versatility expected from an everyday vehicle.

Beyond the new vehicle itself, MG Philippines is using the occasion to launch its New Energy Tour 2026. The nationwide roadshow will showcase the brand’s range of Hybrid+, Plug-in Hybrid and Battery Electric Vehicles, giving visitors opportunities to see the vehicles up close and learn more about their respective technologies.

The tour will also include interactive activities and test drives, allowing motorists to experience MG’s electrified offerings rather than simply viewing them on a showroom floor.

After its Manila launch, the MG New Energy Tour 2026 will travel to different regions in the coming months. The goal is to give more Filipino motorists the chance to understand the different types of electrified mobility available and determine which technology best fits their lifestyles.

For MG Philippines, the launch represents more than another model introduction. The company sees the roadshow as an opportunity to make electrified mobility easier for Filipino consumers to understand and experience as they consider their next vehicle.

The public, automotive enthusiasts and prospective customers are invited to the August 27 event at Trinoma Activity Center for the unveiling of the MG S5 EV and the official launch of the MG New Energy Tour 2026.

Autocar’s Take

The MG S5 EV arrives at an interesting time for the Philippine market, where more motorists are becoming familiar with EVs but still have plenty of questions about which technology suits them best. What makes the brand‘s approach interesting is that the New Energy Tour 2026 goes beyond simply putting another EV on display. Bringing Hybrid+, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric vehicles directly to different communities gives buyers a chance to compare their options in a more practical setting.
