
Hyundai Motor Company and Shell have extended their partnership through 2031 with a focus on strengthening collaboration in future mobility. The Korean car brand said that it has renewed its five-year Global Business Cooperation Agreement with Shell, which is a partnership that has been built over more than 20 years.
With the extended partnership, the two companies will work on new joint initiatives focused on future mobility through expanded joint research and development (R&D), service marketing, and motorsports partnerships. Hyundai Senior Vice President and Head of Global Service Sub-Division Beom Seok Kang said that its partnership with Shell has helped the car brand’s global aftersales service competitiveness and has also improved customer satisfaction.
“We are pleased to extend Hyundai Motor’s long-standing partnership with Shell. Through our collaborative aftersales service marketing initiatives over the past years, we have successfully enhanced our global aftersales service competitiveness and improved customer satisfaction by delivering Shell’s premium quality engine oils to Hyundai customers worldwide,” said Beom Seok Kang.
“Together, we will be better positioned to respond proactively to changes in the future mobility market while continuing to create greater value for our customers and strengthen our long-term global competitiveness,” added Beom Seok Kang.

With that, the two companies are expected to continue joint service marketing activities to further enhance customer satisfaction globally. Hyundai and Shell will also expand joint research and development efforts focused on next-generation mobility solutions, including improving engine oil quality and advancing fluids and coolants dedicated to electric vehicles.
“For more than two decades, Shell and Hyundai Motor have partnered to deliver innovation, performance, and customer value globally. Together, we have advanced lubricant technology, supported Hyundai Motor’s mobility ambitions, and translated learnings from motorsport into real-world benefits. As we look ahead, we are expanding our collaboration in next-generation e-fluids, thermal management, digital innovation, and high-performance mobility,” shared Shell Vice President, Global Key Accounts and New Business Development Lee Ming Seow.
“By combining our expertise, we will continue to develop solutions that enhance performance, efficiency, and sustainability for Hyundai Motor and our customers worldwide,” expressed Lee Ming Seow.
Shell has also been serving as a performance and innovation partner to Genesis Magma Racing in its debut season in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2026, providing specialized lubricants and coolants for the GMR-001 Hypercar.
The partnership has also extended into the Hyundai N Division to co-engineer lubricants designed for high-performance engines and electric vehicles.
