VinFast Philippines shared that a recent consumer study by Agile Data Solutions Inc. revealed that one in six Filipinos is actively considering driving home an electric vehicle (EV) or a hybrid car due to the rising transport and fuel costs. With that, VinFast aims to help interested consumers better understand the cost of owning an EV.
To do just that, VinFast PH launches its online Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Calculator, a feature that is available on the car brand’s website. VinFast’s TCO Calculator aims to compare the long-term financial impact of owning an EV with that of a traditional vehicle equipped with an internal combustion engine (ICE). The car brand added that its online TCO Calculator can assist individuals in making a more informed car-buying decision.
VinFast PH said that its online TCO Calculator has factored in daily driving habits, fuel or electric expenses, monthly financing payments, and routine maintenance. This, according to the brand, allows consumers to simulate their estimated financial outlook before making the purchase.
To get an idea of how VinFast’s TCO Calculator works, an individual would simply select one of the brand’s vehicle models, enter their average monthly mileage, choose a battery ownership option, and set their expected ownership duration. After which, the online calculator will instantly generate comparative estimates, comparing the cost of ownership of a VinFast EV against comparable ICE models.

For example, an interested individual chooses a VinFast VF 7 Plus with a battery subscription, driving 2,000 kilometers per month over five years. This would result in an estimated TCO of P1,884,890. Under the same conditions, the calculator estimates that an ICE vehicle would cost P3,156,240 over the same timeframe. That equals a potential savings of P1,271,237, or about 40 percent.
VinFast PH noted that its online TCO Calculator is designed to provide a powerful tool to gain more insights into understanding the cost of owning an EV, compared against an ICE vehicle. As such, the car brand added that its TCO Calculator acts as a dedicated financial planning tool.
Of note, VinFast PH clarified that the TCO Calculator is provided for informational and illustrative purposes only and does not constitute a quotation, offer, guarantee of savings, or financing commitment. It also said that the TCO estimates are based on reasonable assumptions. Actual ownership costs and savings may vary depending on vehicle pricing, financing, insurance, maintenance, driving habits, electricity and fuel prices, taxes, promotions, and other applicable factors.

Autocar’s Take
VinFast Philippines wants to further help interested individuals to have a better understanding of the cost of owning an EV. Through its online TCO Calculator, VinFast PH is giving estimates on the possible savings a consumer can gain when it purchases a VinFast EV. Its online calculator shows how much an individual could approximately save when the consumer opts to drive home a brand-new VinFast EV. But be mindful, as VinFast PH stated that the TCO Calculator is provided for informational and illustrative purposes only and does not constitute a quotation, offer, guarantee of savings, or financing commitment.
