Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has officially begun retail sales of the all-new Toyota Hilux, introducing the ninth generation of its iconic pickup truck with refreshed styling, updated technology, and the nameplate’s first-ever battery-electric variant. The expanded lineup went on sale on July 21, giving Filipino buyers the choice between Toyota’s proven diesel powertrain and a fully electric 4×4 model.
While the Hilux has long been regarded as one of the country’s go-to pickups for work and recreation, the latest model aims to keep pace with changing customer demands. Toyota says the new generation combines its established durability and off-road capability with improved comfort, modern features, and electrification to serve a broader range of buyers.
The all-new Hilux adopts Toyota’s latest “Cyber Sumo” design language, highlighted by a larger honeycomb grille, distinctive C-shaped LED headlamps, redesigned taillamps, and an integrated deck-side step for easier access to the cargo bed. The Conquest variant receives a tougher-looking front bumper aimed at outdoor enthusiasts, while the Hilux BEV stands apart with an enclosed front grille designed to improve aerodynamic efficiency.

Inside, Toyota has given the cabin a more contemporary layout with upgraded infotainment and connectivity features. The Conquest and V variants come equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the G and E variants receive an 8-inch display with wired smartphone integration. The flagship Conquest and the new BEV further add synthetic leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, wireless charging, and a Panoramic View Monitor for a more premium driving experience.
Powering the diesel range is Toyota’s familiar 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, producing 204 hp and up to 500 Nm of torque on automatic variants. Higher trims also gain electric power steering for improved maneuverability, while the Conquest adds Multi-Terrain Select, Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, seven airbags, and an Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold to further enhance capability and safety.
Leading the biggest change to the lineup is the new Hilux 4×4 BEV. Built on a dedicated ladder-frame chassis for electric propulsion, it features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 196 PS and draws power from a 59.2-kWh lithium-ion battery rated for up to 315 kilometers of driving range under the NEDC cycle. Buyers will also receive a complimentary home wall charger with installation, while Toyota continues expanding its dealership charging network nationwide.
Pricing starts at P1.772 million for the diesel-powered Hilux lineup, while the Hilux 4×4 BEV is priced at P2.99 million. TMP will also showcase the new pickup during the Toyota Legacy Experience from July 31 to August 2 in Santa Rosa, Laguna, where visitors can explore the Hilux’s heritage alongside Toyota’s latest electrified mobility technologies.

Autocar’s Take
The all-new Toyota Hilux shows that Toyota isn’t forcing customers into a single direction. Instead, it’s expanding the lineup with both proven diesel models and the new Hilux 4×4 BEV, allowing buyers to decide which best fits their needs. That’s a sensible strategy in markets like the Philippines, where workhorse pickups remain essential but interest in electrification continues to grow. If the Hilux BEV can deliver the durability and capability the nameplate is known for, it could become an important stepping stone for businesses and early adopters looking to embrace electric mobility without giving up the practicality of a pickup.
