It’s been a long time since a new Nissan Terrano rolled onto Philippine roads. Back in the day, this rugged SUV – called the Pathfinder elsewhere – was a go-to for families and off-road fans. But as Nissan Philippines moved toward softer, more family-friendly crossovers, the Terrano quietly faded out.
Now that the Terrano name is back in China as a concept, talk of a Philippine comeback is picking up again. The question even came up during a recent media preview for Nissan’s e-Power models, landing right on the desk of Nissan Philippines president Yoshinori Kanazawa.
When asked about the new Terrano shown in China, Kanazawa responded with, “I like that car. But we need your feedback, from the media, dealers, and business partners.”

That’s not a yes, but it’s not a hard no either. Car brands rarely tip their hand about future models, so even a comment like that is enough to keep the conversation going.
The Terrano concept shown in China is nothing like the spartan SUV most Filipinos remember. It’s now a modern, electrified SUV, with plug-in hybrid tech and a design aimed at city life and off-road excursions alike.
Instead of rugged simplicity, you get sharp lines, futuristic lights, and a cabin that feels more like today’s crossovers than yesterday’s off-roaders. Nissan hasn’t shared full production details yet, but this concept looks like a preview of their next wave of electrified SUVs.
Will the Philippines get it? That’s still up in the air. But the fact that Nissan Philippines is even talking about the Terrano shows they’re listening.
The Terrano talk came with a bigger message from Nissan Philippines about where they’re headed. When asked about their plans for the year, Kanazawa put it simply: “We will be more aggressive.”
That lines up with what’s coming. Nissan is set to launch four new models this year: the Kicks e-Power, X-Trail e-Power, the yet-to-be-named locally Frontier Pro PHEV pickup, and the Primera sedan based on China’s N7.
Nissan promises a big reveal at the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), where major brands will be back under one roof. As to which models exactly, we’ll keep our lips sealed for now.
Autocar’s Take
Nissan Philippines finally sounds like it’s getting its confidence back. Whether the Terrano returns or not, just hearing the company talk about it makes things more interesting as we head into PIMS. If you’ve been waiting for Nissan to shake things up, this could be the year to pay attention.
