Toyota Land Cruiser FJ comes with accessories off-roaders will love

Capability has always been the name of the game for Toyota’s off-roaders, especially those bearing the “Land Cruiser” nameplate. From the immortal reliability of the 100 Series and its famed 2UZ V8, to the barebones toughness of the 70 Series and the modernized versatility of the 250 Series Prado, capability has long defined the Land Cruiser name.

Now, we’re seeing another member of that family in Japan in the form of the Land Cruiser FJ, alongside a host of new accessories aimed at expanding the SUV’s versatility.

Starting off, the FJ gets the treatment that any Toyota off-roader needs, or more importantly, deserves. These come in the form of a host of ARB exterior parts, such as a roof rack to hold overlanding supplies and gear, a front skid plate to protect the oil pan, and rock rails for additional side protection.

Next up, stepping into the interior, another option for the latest Land Cruiser is a series of MOLLE panels behind the quarter windows and on the barn-door trunk, giving you more modularity for storing and organizing your gear.

Aside from that, the FJ also gets exterior options as part of the “Playful” set, alongside the MOLLE panels. There’s also a series of decals for the hood, doors, and spare tire cover that mimic an overhead view of rock trails. It’s a subtle nod to the Land Cruiser and the terrain it was designed to tackle, whether on a provincial road trip or a trek through the Mighty Gates of Tacadang.

And last but not least, starting in spring 2027, there are plans to release a compact, foldable electric mobility scooter called the “Land Hopper,” allowing users to access tighter areas an FJ may struggle to reach, while at the same time being compact enough to just fold up and tuck away into the trunk, in a similar vein to the Honda Motocompo, which was a factory option for the original Honda City hatchback. Unlike the tiny two-wheeler from Shizuoka, however, the Land Hopper boasts a longer wheelbase and a three-wheeled layout with two wheels up front and one at the rear, giving it greater stability over uneven terrain. That added stability could prove useful for Filipinos navigating tighter provincial roads and trails where even a compact SUV may struggle to fit.

Autocar’s Take

The Toyota Land Cruiser has always proven itself through bulletproof reliability, robust 4WD systems with multiple locking differentials, and utility-driven durability. But now, with the advent of the FJ and its slew of accessories, Toyota appears to be broadening the FJ’s appeal beyond mechanical ruggedness by emphasizing modularity, usability, and lifestyle-oriented versatility. Whether these accessories will make it to the Philippines alongside the FJ itself remains to be seen. Given the enduring popularity of the original FJ Cruiser, it would not be surprising to see these accessories eventually make their way to the Philippine market alongside the vehicle itself.
