MG Philippines previewed its first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) offering early this April, which is the seven-seater G50 PHEV. It was previewed alongside the MG5 Prestige, and the car brand said that these two new models are set to reinforce MG PH’s push toward offering more diverse mobility options.
The MG G50 PHEV is a seven-seater MPV, and it comes with a different design from the G50 Plus that was previously launched by MG. At first glance, one can instantly see that the G50 PHEV has a more refined front fascia, and it looks like a more proper new energy vehicle (NEV). The G50 PHEV’s sleek front end is equipped with slim LED daytime running lights, LED headlights, and an angular bumper. The front fascia is also fitted with a slightly enclosed grille that’s integrated with chrome trims.
Turning at the side, the MG G50 PHEV has crisp character lines that emphasize its overall size. Speaking of which, MG’s seven-seater MPV measures 4,825mm long, 1,825mm wide, and 1,800mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,800mm, as well as a ground clearance of 180mm. The MG G50 PHEV also comes with a set of 17-inch black alloy wheels, while the braking power is provided by disc brakes on all four wheels. Adding to the list of features are power-folding side mirrors.

The rear is equipped with a large bumper, which gives the vehicle a commanding stance. It also has distinctive LED taillights and a roof-mounted spoiler that’s integrated with a third brake light. Of note, the MG G50 PHEV also has a power tailgate, black cladding, and a faux skid plate.
Inside, the MG G50 PHEV features a dark interior theme that has synthetic leather and soft-touch material. The dashboard has a clutter-free design, and the use of physical buttons is reduced to a minimum. This is because of the 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen display that sits in the center, and it houses most of the vehicle controls of the MG G50 PHEV. The central screen is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

A second screen is seen, which is the digital instrument cluster that also measures 12.3 inches. The MG G50 PHEV also has a push start button, a tilt & telescopic steering wheel, a wireless mobile phone charger, USB ports, and a piano black center console. And oh, this MPV has a panoramic sunroof, roof-mounted rear aircon vents, a 360-degree-view camera, parking sensors, and an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).
The G50 PHEV’s spacious cabin comes with second-row captain seats and a three-seater third row that can be folded 60:40 in case you need to make room for more storage. That said, MG shares that the G50 PHEV has 406 liters of cargo space when the third row seats are up. Once folded, the cargo space increases to 1,162 liters.
Under the hood, the MG G50 PHEV is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with a dedicated hybrid transmission, delivering a combined output of 299 hp and 280 Nm of torque. The PHEV system allows for up to 95 kilometers of pure electric driving, while a total combined range of up to 1,415 kilometers provides flexibility for longer trips.
The 2026 MG G50 PHEV is offered at an introductory price of P1,398,888.

Autocar’s Take
MG Philippines continues to expand its model lineup, with the addition of its first PHEV in the country. The MG G50 PHEV is a promising seven-seater that comes with features that make it competitive in the tightly contested MPV segment. The overall design of the G50 PHEV is also nice; it’s not too flashy, and it’s not too bland. It sits in the middle, which could appeal to a wider range of car buyers.
