MG Philippines has expanded its local lineup with the launch of a new compact sedan and the preview of an electrified MPV. The two new models are set to reinforce the brand’s push toward offering more diverse mobility options for Filipino drivers.

Headlining the update is the introduction of the all-new MG5 Prestige, a more refined and feature-packed evolution of the brand’s compact sedan. Designed for daily drives, the MG5 Prestige offers practicality with upgraded technology and comfort. Under the hood sits a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 110 hp and 142 Nm of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The MG5 Prestige measures 4,607 mm in length, 1,818 mm in width, and 1,489 mm in height, with a 2,680 mm wheelbase. These figures translate to improved cabin space. It also offers a generous 512-liter trunk, giving buyers a practical option for both daily commuting and family use.

Inside, the MG5 Prestige comes with a 10.25-inch infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Rear air-conditioning vents and USB ports add convenience for passengers, while features such as a power sunroof, projector LED headlights, cruise control, and a reverse camera with dynamic guidelines enhance its overall value proposition.

MG also previewed the upcoming G50 PHEV MPV. It is a significant step in the brand’s electrification strategy. Positioned as a family-oriented ride, the G50 PHEV uses a 1.5-liter engine paired with a dedicated hybrid transmission, delivering a combined output of 299 hp and 280 Nm of torque. The PHEV system allows for up to 95 km of pure electric driving, while a total combined range of up to 1,415 km provides flexibility for longer trips. Inside, the G50 PHEV features a three-row layout with captain seats, a panoramic sunroof, and dual 12.3-inch digital displays for infotainment and instrumentation.

With the addition of these models, MG continues to broaden its portfolio, now covering internal combustion, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The move highlights the brand’s intent to provide practical, accessible and electrified mobility solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the local market.

MG Philippines prices the MG5 Prestige at P888,888, with introductory offers including cash discounts and flexible financing options. On the other hand, the G50 PHEV is priced at P1,398,888, and is now open for reservations. Early customers are offered incentives such as a minimal reservation fee, discounts, and a complimentary home wall charger upon release.

Autocar’s Take

MG’s latest rollout shows a clear effort to address different segments of the market in one move. The MG5 Prestige covers the affordable sedan space by adding features that improve everyday usability, while the G50 PHEV introduces a more forward-looking option for families considering electrification.

The contrast between the two models shows a balanced strategy, serving current demand while preparing for future shifts. The G50 PHEV, in particular, could attract buyers who want better efficiency without fully committing to an electric vehicle. This dual approach gives MG a stronger appeal in a competitive and evolving market.
