Chinese carmaker BYD has unveiled the new Atto 3 Evo, a significantly upgraded version of its small all-electric family SUV. The Atto 3 Evo introduces additional power, a larger 74.8kWh battery, ultra-fast 220kW DC charging capability, and more.
Built on the latest iteration of BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, the Atto 3 Evo marks a major shift from the previous front-wheel-drive layout. Buyers can now choose between rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants, alongside an upgraded rear suspension that moves to a more sophisticated multi-link setup.
The rear-wheel-drive Atto 3 Evo Design variant puts out 313 hp and 380 Nm of torque, allowing the SUV to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. It delivers a combined driving range of 510 km. The range-topping Atto 3 Evo Excellence variant, meanwhile, increases output to 449 hp, cutting that 0 to 100 km/h acceleration rate to 3.9 seconds, while registering a combined range of 470 km.
Both variants feature an 800 V electrical architecture enabling 220 KW DC fast charging, allowing 10% to 80% recharge in just 25 minutes. Standard AC charging is rated at 11 KW programmed in three phases, completing a full charge in approximately 8 hours.

BYD also did not skimp on practicality as the Atto 3 Evo boasts an increased rear cargo capacity of 490 liters, expandable to 1,360 liters with the rear seats folded. A new 101-liter “frunk (front trunk)” adds extra storage. BYD was able to make these adjustments without touching the Atto 3’s current dimensions at 4,455 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, and 1,615 mm in height.
Inside, the BYD Atto 3 Evo gains an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch rotating central touch screen with integrated Google Maps, Apple CarPlay, and Google Assistant. The AI-enhanced voice assistant uses a cloud-based large language model for more natural voice command recognition.
On the safety front, the Atto 3 Evo comes with 7 airbags and a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Front and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Assist, Collision Warning, and Traffic Sign Recognition.
Finally, both the Design and Excellence variants of the BYD Atto 3 Evo include vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability at up to 3.3 KW for running external devices such as camping lights or electric cooking stoves, enhancing the model’s versatility and value beyond mobility.
According to BYD, the new Atto 3 Evo will be rolled out globally by spring or Q2 of 2026. BYD Cars Philippines, as well as its official distributor ACMobility, have yet to make an official statement regarding a local-spec Atto 3 Evo.
Autocar’s Take
The introduction of the BYD Atto 3 Evo signals how quickly Chinese car brands are evolving. On paper, its 800 V electrified architecture, strong performance figures, and improved practicality make it competitive even against established global players. For the Philippine market, however, the key challenge will be infrastructure readiness. Its speedy 220 KW DC fast charging capability sounds impressive, and the combination of long-range and V2L functionality could resonate well with many local buyers.
But its full potential depends on whether local networks can support it. Considering that ACMobility is on the move to establishing as many standard and fast EV charging stations as it can nationwide, as well as other mall operators, private establishments, and organizations such as the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) helping to increase the number of EV charging stations in the country, then maybe the Atto 3 Evo can thrive and be enjoyed by many who are looking to step into electrified mobility with peace of mind.
