The rehabilitation of EDSA is set to continue through mid-January as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) implements an updated roadworks schedule. This aims to accelerate the improvements along Metro Manila’s main thoroughfare.
The latest round of works started on the night of January 6, 2026, following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to fast-track road rehabilitation to improve safety for motorists, commuters, and pedestrians. In detail, the EDSA roadworks will be conducted overnight to minimize traffic disruption, running from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM on weekdays for asphalt overlaying, and from Friday nights through Monday mornings for combined asphalt overlaying and concrete reblocking.
Several sections of EDSA will be affected between January 6 and January 12, depending on the type of work being carried out. For northbound traffic, asphalt overlaying will take place between January 6 to 11 between Magallanes and the Ayala Underpass, covering the second to fifth lanes. This section will also receive a second layer of asphalt to improve surface durability.

The DPWH is also doing rotomilling in some parts of EDSA. In brief, rotomilling is a road repair process that removes the worn or damaged top layer of asphalt to create a smooth, even surface before new pavement is applied. As of this writing, the DPWH has already started working on the southbound side from Scout Mariano to Aurora Boulevard, covering the second to fourth lanes. Additional southbound works will be conducted from January 8 to 10 between Vanguard Academy and the Kalayaan Flyover. Northbound rotomilling began yesterday, January 7, and will Aurora Boulevard to Apelo Cruz, affecting the third to fifth lanes.
Concrete reblocking, which requires longer curing time and lane closures, will be implemented northbound from January 9 to 12 along the Roxas Boulevard to Taft Avenue section, specifically on the third lane.
Following these new EDSA rehabilitation schedules, the DPWH has advised motorists to expect intermittent lane closures in affected areas. It also strongly encouraged the use of alternative routes whenever possible. Traffic management personnel will be deployed, and coordination with local government units (LGUs) and traffic authorities will be maintained to help manage flow during roadwork hours.
The agency also said EDSA rehabilitation schedules will be updated weekly, depending on weather conditions and progress on site. Motorists are urged to monitor official advisories for real-time updates as the EDSA rehabilitation continues.
