Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has mobilized an emergency response and relief drive in Cebu. This was in light of the recent 6.9-magnitude earthquake that hit the region last September, which claimed lives, destroyed properties, and affected the livelihood of many communities. IPC’s relief drive was made possible with the help of its Cebu dealership owner and operator, Iconic Dealership Inc. (IDI).
Going into detail, the aftermath of the quake left over 70 people dead and more than 170,000 families affected. This prompted local and national authorities to declare a state of calamity in several towns, including San Remigio.
Among those that took action was IPC. Together with IDI, the companies deployed a fleet of Isuzu Mobile Medic Trucks. Typically used for on-site vehicle service operations, these vehicles served as emergency response units, delivering relief goods to affected communities, particularly in Barangay Poblacion, one of the hardest-hit areas. The team was led by IPC Department Head for Dealer Sales Mario Ojales and Isuzu Mandaue Branch Head Eufemio Ybañez.
“We are committed not only to powering businesses but also to empowering lives, especially in times of crisis,” shared Ojales. Meanwhile, Ybañez expressed that it felt heartwarming to witness how the community came together in times of crisis. He added that his company is grateful to be part of IPC, which prioritizes compassion and action.
For his part, Barangay Captain Rey Tamboboy of Poblacion, San Remigio, expressed gratitude to IPC and IDI for their quick response, saying it brought much relief to his residents and gave them hope as they rise to rebuild.
The joint effort between IPC and its Cebu dealership highlights the company’s active role in disaster response, solidifying its commitment to real corporate social responsibility in times of need. IPC says this is proof of its mission to provide service beyond vehicle sales and after-sales, making a meaningful impact in the community it operates in.
