GrabScholar celebrates academic excellence

Grab Philippines once again grants full-ride scholarships to six college freshmen pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Business.

In the true spirit of the holiday season, Grab Philippines has awarded full-ride college scholarships to six exceptional freshmen students under its GrabScholar program. These remarkable individuals, representing various regions across the Philippines, have received comprehensive scholarship packages to pursue degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Business at their chosen universities. They are set to become the next generation of leaders and trailblazers in their fields.

The GrabScholar program provides more than just tuition coverage. It includes a monthly stipend to support essential expenses such as dormitory accommodations and daily needs, as well as an annual allowance for school supplies. To further enhance their career prospects, scholars gain access to internship opportunities with Grab Philippines, helping them achieve meaningful progress toward their dream professions.

Among the deserving recipients are Chloe Cipriano, Genille Gonzales, and Knash Alsonado, whose inspiring journeys reflect resilience and determination:

  • Chloe Cipriano, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at PHINMA Saint Jude College Manila, is passionate about technology and problem-solving. Aspiring to become a cybersecurity expert or software developer, Chloe views the scholarship as a vital support system for her family, significantly alleviating their financial struggles.
  • Genille Gonzales, enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Major in Marketing Management) at National University – Fairview, draws inspiration from her retired accountant aunt. She dreams of a career in public service while supporting her father, Marlo, a MOVE IT rider-partner, in meeting their family’s needs.
  • Knash Alsonado, a BS Legal Management student at the University of the East, aims to become a lawyer or paralegal. Encouraged by her parents, Knash is determined to assist her father, Randel Alsonado, a GrabCar driver-partner, who is caring for her grandmother, a stroke patient. The scholarship has been instrumental in easing their family’s financial burdens.
Grab Philippines Country Head, Ronald Roda personally welcomed the GrabScholars and their
families, extending his congratulations and officially embracing them into the Grab community.

These scholars have overcome significant challenges, including health and financial struggles, to achieve academic excellence. Their journeys exemplify the resilience and determination that the GrabScholar program seeks to empower.

Ronald Roda, Country Head of Grab Philippines, expressed pride in the scholars, stating, “They exemplify the importance of opportunity and demonstrate how, when coupled with hard work and determination, it can shape a better future. GrabScholar is not just about financial aid but an investment in future leaders and trailblazers.”

This year’s batch expands the GrabScholar roster to a total of 18 outstanding college students. Beyond college scholarships, GrabScholar 2024 supported the educational needs of 300 K-12 students and created career acceleration pathways for 150 aspiring BPO professionals. As these scholars celebrate the holidays, they do so with renewed hope and determination, ready to make a significant impact on society.
