Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is on track to reach a historic milestone this year. The reason being is that the brand is on a mission to hit three million cumulative vehicle sales in months to come, highlighting nearly four decades of growth in the Philippine automotive industry.

The milestone comes as the country’s largest automotive company celebrates its 38th anniversary, with executives expressing confidence that improving market conditions and better vehicle supply will help push cumulative sales beyond the three-million mark before the end of 2026.

TMP President Masando Hashimoto acknowledged that geopolitical uncertainties and energy-related concerns continue to weigh on the market. Despite these challenges, he said demand has shown encouraging signs of recovery, allowing the company to steadily rebuild its sales momentum. He added that Toyota is prepared to support demand with improved availability of its high-volume models.

If achieved, the milestone would further cement Toyota’s dominance in the Philippine automotive market. The company first claimed the industry’s top spot in 1994 and secured its 24th consecutive Triple Crown in 2025 after leading passenger car, commercial vehicle, and overall vehicle sales.

Toyota also highlighted how rapidly its cumulative sales have accelerated over the years. It took the company 27 years to reach its first one million vehicle sales, another seven years to hit the two-million mark, and just over four years to approach its third million — a reflection of the country’s growing vehicle market and sustained customer demand.

Supporting that growth is Toyota’s long-term investment in local manufacturing. Operating from its 82-hectare facility in Santa Rosa, Laguna, TMP has produced more than 1.21 million completely knocked-down (CKD) vehicles and currently manufactures the Vios, Innova, and the revived Tamaraw. These locally built models helped the company post a record production volume of 63,803 units in 2025 while supporting over 83,000 jobs across its dealer, supplier, and subsidiary network.

Beyond its business milestones, TMP also reaffirmed its commitment to nation-building and sustainability. During its anniversary celebration, the company marked the planting of the symbolic 500,000th tree under the All Toyota Green Wave Project, bringing it halfway toward its target of nurturing one million trees by 2030.

Autocar’s Take

Reaching three million cumulative sales is more than a number for Toyota Motor Philippines. It reflects decades of consistent customer trust, a strong local manufacturing presence, and the company’s ability to adapt as the Philippine automotive industry evolves. While market conditions remain unpredictable, Toyota appears well-positioned thanks to its extensive dealer network, locally produced vehicles, and steady investment in people and production. If the company achieves the three-million sales milestone this year, it won’t simply be another corporate achievement—it will also underscore how deeply TMP has become woven into the country’s automotive landscape.
