
For some ultra rich people, collecting sports cars is like buying lunch in a convenient store. But sometimes, even billionaires are denied such opportunities. Take for instance, the chance to buy this exclusive Porsche 911. You don’t just buy it from Porsche. You get assessed and invited to buy it from somewhere else.
Gunther Werks, an American company known for restoring and turning old air-cooled Porsche 911s into bespoke models, has released the latest addition to its ultra exclusive lineup. Meet the GWX, a limited edition Porsche 911 that’s been remastered and pegged as the company’s “absolute apex of Gunther Werks’ offerings.”
Gunther Werks says that this special Porsche 911 build will only be produced in limited quantities – three units, to be exact. On top of this, the GWX is not for sale, sort of.
That’s because in order to buy this ultra rare Porsche, one has to be checked out and chosen by Gunther Werks through its invite-only program. This means that the company picks those who it sees are qualified to buy it. So, no matter how rich you are, if Gunther Werks finds that you don’t meet its standards, you won’t get the GWX.
This is a tough challenge to beat with just mere wealth flexing. This filters out those who genuinely care and appreciate the bespoke sports car for what it is and what it’s for, from those who simply just want to say – or “brag” – that they have a rare find. But is it worth it? Based on how it’s styled and tuned up, it’s a yes.


Style-wise, Gunther Werks installed carbon fiber body panels, vented fenders, flared skirts, race spec front bumper, vented rear bumper with diffuser, and a frame mounted rear wing with air scoop. All these aerodynamic modifications are complemented by a special body paintwork referred to as Candy Purple, which Gunther Werks developed in-house. Adding to the style are silver pinstrip and exposed carbon fiber weaving on the hood, roof, and tail.
Other than the exclusivity badges on the door sills and dashboard, Gunther Werks didn’t mention anything major about what it did in the interior. But based on the photos, it appears that the GWX’s cabin has been restored and modernized. These modern touches come in the form of carbon fiber panels, new gauges, new gear shift lever, and special seats that better support the occupants during high-performance drives.



While on the subject of high-performance, the Gunther Werks GWX isn’t just for show. It goes with a 4.0-liter flat-six engine with 440 hp and 433 Nm of torque on tap. The bespoke firm improved this by adding new throttle body plates and a drive-by-wire system. The engine is bolted onto an improved rear chassis for added rigidity.
As for the price, we’re sure those who can afford this masterpiece are among those who don’t ask before buying, so…
