Chery Auto Philippines (CAP) has fielded its newest contender in the subcompact crossover arena. The latest product is the new Chery Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid, which runs on a mild-hybrid powertrain set-up.
According to the Chinese automotive manufacturer’s distributor locally, the newest offering is targeting buyers who still want value for money but desire enhanced practicality, a greener and more sustainable powertrain, more premium features and a more luxurious design.
“We are excited to introduce the new Chery Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid to Filipino new car buyers. With its upmarket styling, efficient hybrid drivetrain, and premium features, we expect it to surprise and delight Filipinos who want to get more from their subcompact crossover,” CAP Managing Director Froilan Dytianquin.
Up front, the new Chery Tiggo 5X Hybrid still wears the same Diamond Galaxy grille, distinctive LED headlights with follow-me-home function, and dual-row LED daytime running lights found in the nameplate’s gasoline-powered option.
Additionally, the vehicle features power-folding side mirrors with turn signals, chrome trim on the windows, rear spoiler with high-mounted brake light, a new rear bumper with sporty chrome and silver trim on the diffuser, and integrated load-bearing roof rails.
It sits on 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels wrapped in 215/55R18 tires.

The cabin for the new Chery Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid is fitted with faux leather seats, multi-color ambient lighting, six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, four-way adjustable front passenger seat, intelligent remote key, tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, push-button engine start, auto start/stop, multi-function steering wheel buttons, power sunroof, remote tailgate unlock, one-touch power windows with anti-pinch protection, and an N95 cabin filter.
Its infotainment system is made up of a 10.25-inch touchscreen that has Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and USB connectivity. It is mated to six speakers.
Additionally, it has a full-digital seven-inch instrument cluster, 360-degree around-view monitor, rear camera with dynamic guidelines, electronic cruise control with speed limiter, electronic parking brake, and wireless mobile phone charging.
Powering the vehicle is a 1.5-liter turbocharged DOHC VVT 16-valve Euro 6-compliant 4-cylinder gasoline engine paired with a continuously variable transmission. The powertrain set-up also comes with a 48-volt belt-starter generator (BSG) mild-hybrid motor. Such a combination can provide 154 horsepower and 230 Newton-meters of torque.
Its semi-hybrid technology also features EV functions such as the Auto Start and Stop, Energy Recovery
Guaranteeing the stopping power are the four-wheel disc brakes (ventilated at the front) with anti-brake lock system and Brake Assist.
Moreover, the Chery Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid is fitted with a myriad of safety and security technologies like the six-airbag system, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Assist Control, Hill Descent Control, traction control, tire pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX seat anchor, an electronic anti-theft system with engine immobilizer, and 3-point dual-pretensioner seatbelts for all five occupants.
Like all Chery models currently marketed by CAP, the Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid is packaged with a standard 10-year/1 million-km engine warranty, a 5-year/150,000-km general vehicle warranty, free 3-years preventive maintenance service (PMS), and roadside assistance.
The new Chery Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid is priced at P1.14 million — just P200,000 higher than the non-hybrid option.
