As the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) prepares for its highly anticipated 2024 edition, scheduled for October 24-27 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, all eyes are on the future of the country’s automotive industry. Organized by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI), this year’s show embraces the bold theme: “Dare, Drive, The Future Redefined.”

The 2024 edition promises to be the biggest and most exciting yet, with a record-breaking 17 participating automotive brands showcasing their latest innovations in mobility. Additionally, this year’s event will spotlight groundbreaking partnerships, including Helixpay, which has revolutionized the ticketing process, and BPI, returning as the official auto-finance partner to help customers access exclusive deals and financing solutions.

A Look Back at PIMS Milestones

Since its inception, PIMS has been the go-to platform for introducing cutting-edge automotive technologies in the Philippines. Noteworthy moments from past editions include the debut of electric vehicle prototypes in 2018, the launch of clean diesel technology in 2016, and the growing adoption of hybrid vehicles, which have set new standards for fuel efficiency in the country.

The 5th PIMS in 2014 was particularly significant, drawing in over 90,000 attendees—a record that this year’s event hopes to surpass with the expanded participation of 17 automotive brands. CAMPI President Atty. Rommel Gutierrez expressed his enthusiasm for this year’s show, stating, “As this is the largest PIMS to date, we are confident that it will break previous attendance records and offer an unparalleled experience for automotive enthusiasts.”

Celebrating Industry Growth

PIMS has played a pivotal role in increasing consumer interest in innovative vehicle models and advanced technologies. In fact, the latest joint report from CAMPI and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) shows that the Philippine automotive industry saw a 10.3% increase in vehicle sales from January to August 2024, with 304,765 units sold compared to 276,215 units during the same period in 2023.

Atty. Gutierrez noted, “This steady growth underscores the resilience of our industry and the confidence of Filipino consumers. Moving forward, CAMPI remains committed to driving innovation and meeting the evolving needs of our market.”
