MOVE IT, a leading homegrown motorcycle taxi company, has renewed and enhanced its strategic partnerships with the HONDA Safety Driving Center and the Philippine Red Cross. These collaborations are pivotal in MOVE IT’s dedication to safety, focusing on rigorous skills assessment, capacity-building, and emergency response initiatives.
“Safety remains a cornerstone of our operations. We are committed to constantly enhancing and advancing our programs, aiming to cultivate a fleet of rider-partners who are not only equipped with essential safety skills but also foster a safety-first mindset,” says MOVE IT General Manager Wayne Jacinto. “By forging strategic collaborations with esteemed organizations in road safety and emergency response, we continuously evolve our training and assessment program blueprint, aligning with globally recognized certification and training standards,” adds Jacinto.
Enhanced Collaboration with HONDA Safety Driving Center
The partnership with HONDA has been bolstered through an extensive training series for MOVE IT’s trainers, assessors, and safety program designers. Since 2022, this collaboration has included intensive training programs across three essential courses, aimed at certifying participants as road safety instructors and assessors:
- Motorcycle Skills Certification (Intermediate to Advanced Courses) – A program assessing road safety awareness and professional driving skills.
- Safety Riding Course – Focused on enriching instructors’ road safety mindset and responsible road use knowledge.
- Basic Motorcycle Troubleshooting – Training on assessing vehicle roadworthiness.
Upon certification, MOVE IT trainers and assessors conduct mandatory skills and vehicle assessment programs for potential rider-partners. They also vet aspiring rider-partners moving forward to the Driver Guidelines Orientation and Training, designed in line with HONDA Road Safety team principles to ensure government standards compliance.
Moreover, the MOVE IT team partakes in courses on analytical driving, motorcycle dynamics, and practical applications like motorcycle handling, corrective riding posture, and traffic regulations. MOVE IT has co-developed road safety courses with the HONDA Safety Driving Center, integrated into its orientation and accessible via the MOVE IT Academy in-app learning platform.
Strengthened Emergency Response with Philippine Red Cross
MOVE IT has intensified its partnership with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) to enhance its Emergency Response Unit (ERU). This advanced training program targets volunteer rider leaders and a dedicated contingent from the MOVE IT team, covering emergency preparedness and response, including Emergency Action Principles, Basic First Aid, Environmental Emergencies, and Special Situations.
Following the training, ERU members undergo further evaluation before being deployed as emergency responders. The ERU handles road incidents reported through the MOVE IT Hotline, in-app Safety Center, or Emergency SOS Button, offering comprehensive on-site support and communication with riders, passengers, and families. They provide basic first aid as needed, while deferring full medical attention to professional medics.

“We are thankful for collaborations with organizations such as HONDA Safety Driving Center and the Philippine Red Cross, for these deepen our industrial knowledge – allowing us to better our service to every passenger and heighten our commitment to safety,” notes Jacinto.
