Truck and bus concessionaire Man Automotive Concessionaires Corporation adds Yutong in its brand portfolio with the introduction of the Yutong T5 light duty EV truck – in a bid to support greener energy for commercial vehicles.
The T5 adopts the smiley face design language for Yutong’s current lineup of trucks, with LED headlights and a grille less design which comprises the front fascia. It measures 5,995mm long, 2,140mm wide, and 3130mm tall, with the included cargo bed measuring 4,200mm long, 2,100mm wide and 2,100mm tall.

A 100 kw/H battery powers the Yutong T5 EV truck, producing a peak power output of 160hp and 355Nm of torque, which is powerful enough to handle a maximum of 3,500kg of load via the cargo bed. It also allows the T5 to achieve 370km in one full charge. Fast charging time from its dedicated charger takes an hour in its dedicated EV charger, Yutong said.

Yutong says that the electric motors and the battery are both IP68 plus IP6K9K rated, which meant the whole system can withstand a water depth of one meter for 24 hours, and can still work normally after being sprayed by high pressure water guns for worry free cleaning.
Other safety features of the T5 include Downhill Assist, Emergency Anti Pedal Misoperation, and Traction Control System, to make driving at low speeds, slopes, wet and slippery roads even safer. A 360 degree panoramic view of the truck is included, combined with a set of side mirrors, ensure that there are no blind spots when driving.

Other niceties include an infotainment system which allows for Bluetooth connectivity, a dedicated ashtray, and USB connectivity. Benefitting from its drivetrain-less layout is the increased legroom at the front, allowing the middle passenger to sit more comfortably.
The Yutong T5 starts at P5,000,000, and though it may be expensive even for fleets, Yutong says that it promises huge savings on maintenance, and is working on better fleet ownership experience with EV commercial vehicles.
