Lotus Robotics, CaoCao Mobility Partner for Advance Autonomous Driving R&D

Lotus Robotics, the self-driving technology division of Lotus, has officially partnered with CaoCao Mobility, the ride-hailing platform strategically backed by Geely Holding, to accelerate the global deployment of autonomous driving solutions.

The collaboration has resulted in China’s first fully comprehensive autonomous driving system, developed by Lotus Robotics. This innovative system encompasses a fully customized vehicle, a completely unmanned autonomous driving platform, and fully automated operational capabilities.

As part of an extensive pilot program conducted in Suzhou and Hangzhou, China, the self-driving technology successfully completed 13,545 km of real-world testing without human intervention. This achievement underscores the reliability and safety of Lotus Robotics’ software and services in urban environments.

The partnership will continue its operations in both cities, refining the integration of vehicle intelligence with infrastructure to tackle persistent urban mobility challenges, such as unexpected pedestrian crossings.

This announcement follows Lotus Robotics’ recent collaboration with Aramco Digital, a subsidiary of Saudi Aramco, exploring the implementation of Robotaxis in the Middle East.

Comprehensive Autonomous Solutions by Lotus Robotics

Lotus Robotics is scaling its operations globally with a full stack of autonomous software and services designed to support businesses deploying self-driving technology efficiently and securely.

Key offerings include:

  • ROBO Soul: A full self-driving software stack that can be integrated into any vehicle and environment. The solution offers up to Level 4 autonomy, where vehicles can independently perform tasks such as parking and highway driving under specific conditions, with optional human override. Elements of this technology are already incorporated into Lotus’ next-generation electric vehicles, including the hyper-SUV Eletre and hyper-GT Emeya.
  • ROBO Galaxy: A cloud-based ecosystem supporting ROBO Soul. This suite of tools enables businesses to manage and analyze data, optimizing efficiency and accessibility for autonomous fleets.
  • ROBO Matrix: A real-time monitoring and AI-powered safety enhancement system that offers remote guidance, control, and parallel driving solutions to ensure the continuous improvement of self-driving capabilities.

Latest Technological Advancements

Lotus Robotics has recently introduced new features to enhance autonomous driving capabilities:

  • Urban Navigation without Maps: Also known as ‘Navigate on Autopilot’ (NOA), this technology enables seamless transitions between highways and urban roads, including smart lane changes, intersection U-turns, and detouring.
  • High-Precision Navigation: Enables smooth variable lane driving, intelligent lane selection, and advanced obstacle avoidance mechanisms.

These advancements are currently being deployed in China, with a global rollout anticipated in Q4 2025. The level of autonomy offered in each market will be subject to region-specific regulatory frameworks.

To support global scalability, Lotus Robotics utilizes Amazon Web Services (AWS) to store and analyze vast amounts of data while ensuring compliance with local regulations.

CaoCao Mobility, a leading ride-hailing service provider in China, operates in over 57 cities and serves more than 35,000 businesses and seven million professionals, cementing its position as a trusted choice for corporate travel.
