BYD’s Shark 6 DMO has been around for more than a year and is making a name for itself in the electrified pickup truck segment. But it seems like its momentum is about to be challenged by the brand’s fellow Chinese carmaker, Jetour. In a report by Chinese media outlet Autohome, a series of spy shots have been floating around, revealing a pre-production model Jetour Zongheng F700 without its camouflage.
The F700 is part of Jetour’s new Zongheng lineup, sharing its design language with the Jetour G700 SUV. The pickup adopts the same square LED daytime running lights, pronounced grille, and upright blocky proportions that defined its SUV counterpart. The rugged bumper design and high approach angle further signal its off-road capability, while the rear end features a simple, functional bed and lighting element that give it a wide-stance appearance. The overall form suggests a blend of practicality and an assertive styling.

Inside, the cabin mirrors the G700’s tech-forward approach. The F700 features a 15.6-inch floating center touchscreen and an extensive 35.4-inch curved display that occupies a large portion of the dashboard, a strong indicator of the model’s tech-savvy offering.
Under the hood, the Jetour F700’s powertrain appears to be the most significant highlight. Industry watchers expect the F700 to feature the brand’s Kunpeng Super Hybrid CDM-O system, which combines a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with electric motors, a dedicated hybrid transmission, and a dual-layer 4C battery capable of fast charging from 10% to 80% in about 10 minutes. Of note, the performance figures are 207 hp and 340 Nm.
This configuration of the Jetour F700 makes it a close rival to electrified lifestyle pickups such as the BYD Shark. While the latter currently leads the segment with its proven and capable plug-in electric hybrid vehicle (PHEV) setup, Jetour appears to be taking a more off-road-oriented, high-power approach. With its ladder-frame construction and tech-heavy cabin, the Jetour F700 may appeal to buyers who want hybrid efficiency without losing the capabilities of a traditional pickup truck.

As of now, key details remain unconfirmed, including pricing, final motor configuration, payload, and towing capacity. However, the absence of the camouflage suggests that an official reveal is imminent. Could this be the challenger to even out the playing field against the BYD Shark 6 DMO? We’ll soon find out.
