Kia Philippines has officially launched the EV5, making a significant step forward in its push for electrified mobility. Positioned as a compact electric SUV, the EV5 boasts modern design, practical features, and notable range figures to appeal to a growing number of Filipinos exploring EV mobility.

First seen during the 2025 Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PHEVS), the EV5 adopts Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy, featuring a distinctive exterior defined by clean lines and a futuristic lighting signature. Heading its way is Kia’s modern interpretation of its Tiger Nose grille design, flanked with Star Map LED lighting, giving the vehicle a strong visual identity. An aerodynamic profile and 18-inch alloy wheels complete the look.

Inside, a dual 12.3-inch display integrates both the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. The head unit supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Comfort features include automatic climate control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and premium upholstery options. The cabin also highlights functionality with a 250V outlet enabled by vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, allowing the SUV to power external devices. Higher trims even come with a sunroof for an enhanced cabin experience.

Kia did not skimp on safety when designing the EV5. As such, the EV SUV comes loaded with features such as Kia Drive Wise, a suite of advanced driver assistance systems that includes lane keep assist, forward collision avoidance, blind spot monitoring, and a surround view monitor. Standard safety features such as anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, and hill assist systems further enhance driver confidence. This is the reason why the EV5 was given a five-star rating from the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).

Engineered on a dedicated electric platform, the Kia EV5 delivers 210 hp and 310 Nm of torque. For the local market, ACMobility, the official distributor of Kia, offers the EV5 in two trims: the GL, which offers a 64.2 kWh battery with a range of up to 400 km, and the GLS, with an 88.1 kWh battery capable of reaching up to 550 km on a single charge.

Kia Philippines prices the EV5 as follows — P2,298,000 for the GL and P2,698,000 for the GLS. According to Kia, the EV5 is backed by an 8-year battery warranty and a 5-year vehicle warranty.

Autocar’s Take

The EV5 arrives at a crucial time when interest in EVs is steadily building in the local market. What shines here is how Kia balances design, usability, and range without complicating the ownership experience. The inclusion of practical features like B2L and home-charging packages addresses local needs.

Pricing remains a consideration, but the value proposition becomes more convincing when factoring in range and technology. With ACMobility at the helm, the EV5 could play a big role in making EV mobility more accessible, with the Ayala-backed company’s push to saturate the country with EV charging stations, eliminating range anxiety in the process.
